Hydraulic drive is not efficient at all and is only good for heavy equipment.
@whaleboatwilly79128 жыл бұрын
As a career logger and heavy equipment operator, can tell you it badly needs sweeps from the front tube to the roll bar tube to deflect limbs and such. Nice rig! Operator safety is compromised with no deflection sweeps.

The practical uses are many in the commercial world. Most Hydratreks sold are used for pipeline/powerline surveying, oil rig transportation, remote site construction, border control, search & rescue, disaster cleanup, etc. While it may not be the most practical recreational vehicle, that isn't what the Hydratrek was designed for.

How do you get that thing out of the deep muddy bush when it breaks down? My 5 sons, one girlfriend and I drove 5 miles in a 50ft wide and 1ft - 10ft deep creek in our 93 Argo 8x8 Conquest and 98 6x6 Bigfoot. My Son's 6x6 Bigfoot started having engine trouble a mile into our 5 mile drive back up stream. With 5 people in our Conquest and two in the Bigfoot, we trekked 4 miles back up stream with the 8x8 Conquest loaded with me and 4 of my big beefcake teenaged sons towing the 6x6 Bigfoot with my 5th son and his girlfriend in anywhere from 1ft of running water to as deep as 10ft in a good part of the stream. Between the weight in the Conquest and towing the weight of the Bigfoot with two older teenagers, we exceeded the factory limits of that 8x8 Conquest! We weren't even using tracks either but we did use an older 55lb trust electric trolling motor in the deeper parts of the stream. How do you tow a bigger tracked vehicle like this one with Hydrostatic drive out of the deep muddy bush if the engine takes a dive?

Jets are less efficient than props, even though a jet is pretty much a prop housed in a tunnel, they work better at high speed as the water is expelled on top of the surface not through the water as many people assume. Also jets need very close tolerances between the tunnel and the tips of the impeller or they just don't work very well, meaning dirty sandy water will soon wear them out. hope that helps?

I wonder why they didn't decide to use jets instead of propellers. It seems like they would give you a little more power and there would be less of a chance of shit getting into your props since your in bad terrain/water.

that's the parking brake indicator. It is annoying and unnecessary in my opinion. It goes off as soon as you start the engine and flip the toggle switch under the red cover to shut the parking brake off. You can't drive the unit with the parking brake on anyway. It will not move. You cant mistakenly drive with the parking brake on. I dont know why they thought the added annoyingly loud beeeeeep was needed?
