Hydraulic Cylinder Stop Tube

In this video I created a hydraulic cylinder stop tube to reduce the stroke of a hydraulic cylinder. The metal tube was made on my Emco Maximat V10 metal lathe and inserted into the hydraulic cylinder.

That stop collar was an ingenious solution to control stroke. I did a similar job except the cylinder i needed was $650 from dealer so down to princess auto too needed 2 in bore 8 in stroke but needed 5/8in pin holes so i found one with right bore and stroke but 1.5 in to long and had 1 in pin holes for $95 so i figured that i would make a bushing for the base end which gave me the right offset the other end cut off the pin hole off the rod and drilled my 5/8 hole at appropriate distance which still had enough rod sticking out fits and functions perfectly even had the right fittings for hydraulic lines. The only thing I would have done differently on yours is make the sleeve a fairly tight fit so it stays against the plunger you had off that way it couldn't slide up and down shaft possibly scoring shaft but if u had nice smooth finish probably wouldn't hurt anything Great job with making it work storing that tidbit of info in back of mind for future endeavors 💨💨💨👍👍👍

Very interesting! That is what I like about you. Ingenuity. Making a sleeve fitting inside a cylinder to restrict the stroke while using a step ladder to hold your rod! It did worked well, without unecessary expensive tools. I always found it tricky to put back the O-rings inside the cylinder housing without notching them on the threads. Great work!

if this was welded to the gland and had an UHMW-HDPE sleeve spacer it would be fine.. But your going to have this rubbing, sliding, vibrating on your cylinder arm chrome creating dust, shavings, oxides that will destroy your pump in time.
