Hydraulic Elevator power unit with dual pumps

This hydraulic elevator has two pump motors teed into a single valve. Notice the large movement of the piping and valve as the pumps start up. The pipe couplings used between the pumps and valve are incorrect. There should've been couplings that allowed zero movement rather than standard misalignment coupling used downstream of the valve.

Most of the time if has duel pump it’s usually have oil coolers if is use a lot

Why is the oil moving so much?

When the controls call for the elevator to slow down in the up direction, some of the oil flow from the pump(s) is diverted back to the tank. When the elevator starts the pump motors up, all of the oil is diverted and gradually sent to the hydraulic cylinder supporting the elevator. This allows for a smooth start, deceleration, and stop.

Yessir, it very much does get hot. A lot depends on how it’s used, the setup and adjustment of the system as well.
