Your point is that Stalin was the master central planner that encouraged stem curriculum. I guess I can see ur point when looking at things like the Moscow train station

Soviet block era tools are of similar quality and depending which exact country, sometimes even higher. Soviets put a huge amount of investment into engineering education.

Doesn’t everyone have an hydraulic press in their basement or garage? This must be a PSA or someone had too much time on his hands. What are the upper and lower press plates made of as they sustained no damage. That’s the kind of anvil I want. 😂😂😂

Must have spent weeks locating the absolutely cheapest looking anvil in the world. That thing would been overpriced in a Dollar Store. At the end he said that they were made of seemingly identical iron. The Chinese one looked like it was being held together by green paint.

Russia has alot of tungsten and probably the steel contains some tungsten greatly increasing its strengths

Tungsten is hard not strong. Quite brittle and tends to make its alloys brittle as well

Chances are good that the Chinese anvil was cast from 'Malleable' iron. Which means it can be deformed. i am sure some of you have seen this on some Clamp Frames. carry on

Russia has the highest quality mini anvils bar none. If you plan on buying a mini anvil to support 50 tons of downward force, there is no substitute. Mini anvils from Russia are the way to go.

The Green Anvil may have been made out of "Ductile Cast Iron", like pistons in Hydraulic Cylinders, so they deform before they fail, where the "Grey Cast Iron" would crack way before that.... One possibility....

I think there are some testing questions. The anvils have the same basic overall shape, but the bridge shape of the soviet anvil's base should have a distinct advantage in resisting top-down pressure, yes? I'm not a physicist, but I believe the arched shape of the soviet anvil's base is a significant advantage.

I have a Russia Baikal shotgun sxs 30 years old and thousands on thousands of shells throught it. Double hammer coach gun and it still going strong!! The steel is truly EXTREMELY tough gun.

Depends on what you are prepared to pay, Good quality Chinese stuff is first rate, cheap stuff is shite. Russian stuff has always been utilitarian, so don't expect the most modern designs. And in the 70's Russian Goods were crap, according to Americans. I own a Russian camp stove and the only other stove that comes anywhere near to it is a Swiss stove.

I would like to see a comparison of vintage Iron from around the world I have a 70 yr old mechanics bench vice made by RAE of Hamilton Ontario that has been misused 100 different ways by my father and me and is still functions as near new.

First one is neither steel nor cast iron - it's made of Chinesium. And it's an ASO, not an anvil.
