That was a massive eye opener to me that there is a crack pressure and a full flow pressure. This now explains to me why there can be so much heat generated in hydraulic log splitters when they aren't actually at the relief pressure. Aussie viewer btw.

Great! On mobile equipment, you vill hear an engine load if it relieves the valve in operation. If it pump cut off valve in operation, you will not hear the load. Also the relieve valve will be very hot and if it is working long enough it will change color, dust on it will be white.
