Jenna if you want it to really stay, before dipping, go over the crocs GENTLY with fine-grit sandpaper in order to give the paint a larger surface area to adhere to

Maybe try a clear sealant coat on them after the paint and water dries, maybe it won’t crack after that? 🤷🏼‍♀️ orrrr maybe it will but it’s worth a shot

I think the problem is that crocs are pretty bendable, and whenever the paint dries, it dries on top of the crocs in their original form. And whenever they bend the paint cracks

Since Crocs are basically rubber, there's pretty much no method in which the spray paint will stick to them perfectly. They will eventually crack and peel since the who materials just do not mix well. If it was on a bottle or something stagnant then that could work. Honestly I'm impressed they've lasted this long lmao. Love the concept tho 😭. But yes, sanding the surface down would help tremendously but it seem that'd be pretty difficult. Btw, since sealants still have most of the components of spray paint, it still wouldn't work all to well unfortunately. Spray paint isn't into being malleable :(

@@katospooren5402 exactly what I was thinking as well, it will never stay for a long time because the paint has only a flat rubbery surface to stick to not like fabric or something which it could absorb into and stain through, so it will just be a layer on top and once you wear them because of the rubber bending and creasing the top layer just pops off

FH she almost did it right but you have to sand the crocs first, you aren’t supposed to wait a super long time between spraying and dipping bc the surface of the paint will dry (ie won’t fully stick to the croc), and you can’t double dip. And you need to seal them after so they’re less likely to flake. Edit: also spraying the green ones with the glow in the dark spray right after taking them out of the water was probably a bad decision. Should have let it all dry first

Think of it this way: having the paint chip off over time just means they're infinitely re-dippable. Once the first layer is gone, you can just dip them again. You can try out different styles, and build your hydro-dipping skills. Like nail art.

Ok from scrolling through the comments I've learned this: - before dipping: sand the crocs - wipe off dust, with rubbing alcohol - use a primer - make a simple colour scheme - dip ONCE - after dipping: use sealant - let them slowly and fully dry for 24 hours And: stop touching them while they dry!
