Hydro-turf custom boat install and template making tips and tricks

This is the molded diamond Hydro Turf with the 3m self adhesive.
Hydro Turf custom install on a 14 foot, 200hp mini jet boat I built. I didn't find any how to videos that fit what I was doing so I decided to make one myself.

Hi there brother, great work! I have an aluminium diamond plated deck and I am a bit uncertain about the hydro turf adhering to it completely. have you ever stuck it to checker plate? should I base coat it with marine adhesive ? cheers

If you had a grinder with a flap wheel or 36grit sanding pad you could buzz the diamonds right off pretty quickly. I don't know how it would stick right over them. The adhesive back is super sticky though. Maybe try a section and see what it looks like before you do the whole thing. If water gets under there is will pull after a while. Good luck!

@@KrisDeVo I fish in salt water and that's what I am worried about, water going under and corrode it.

@@bruciorediculo Might want to grind the diamonds down and/or throw some bottom paint on it to keep from the salt.

I think I missed the answer on the film, but What material did you use for the template? Where do you get those strips?

This is template material from a local finish carpentry supply. I think you can find it online. Poster board or cardboard work too. Just cut with straight edge.

Thanks! Running 2 sets of the Rigid Industries D Series Pro floods up front and SR-M Flush Mount Diffused on the rear of the swimdeck. Haven't used them yet because we have 20 hours of sunlight most of the summer. Fall is almost here thought so we will see how they work on the water.

We made the floor out of 1/2 baltic birch plywood. I want to say it was 9 ply or so. Then a 2 part epoxy primer and then a rubberized coating. Its held up good but now starting to show some signs of wear.
