I have a 1850 60 fuse 72 mast 232 tail. Im a beginner winging 190lbs. I am at 80% on my jibes working on foot swaps. Currently I go to a coastal lagoon 15 gusts to 25 mostly. Im looking for something a little faster and looser for hood river/Maui conditions. Considering a HS 1550 or 1250. I know either would be a change in the right direction from my 1850 but is a 1550 really enough of a change to make it worth it? Im keeping the 1850 for light wind so should I just get the HS1250 for strong days or bigger swell or will it not be as useful? In other words, If I only want two, and one is the 1850, what should the other one be?

Hi Tom! Thanks for the question. Maui and the gorge have the benefit of consistent wind so the full line up is at your disposal. For the gorge: HS1250 or the HA925 would be great. The 925 is more technical to ride but it’s fast and loose. I also recommend the V200 tail. Great to loosen up your 1850 and works great with the 1250. Maui - Consider the new CF1200 and CF950. They are super loose rail to rail but stable. For ocean swell their design shape will be slower than the HA and hold the pocket on the wave nicely. Feel free to call 909-698-0401. is there any uses for the 1600/2400 that the 1550/1850 doesn't hit?

Hi Jon -- I'm sure there likely are in some cases (i.e. the 1600/2400 combo is listed by Armstrong as being good for folks who are new to foiling). That said, if you're an experienced rider, the 1550/1850 will hit all of the scenarios. I'm sure we may be missing a particular scenario but nothing comes to mind.

I’d like to see the 2400 in action for dock/beach starts and flat water pumping please. Curious how it fares for that purpose vs the 1850...thanks

Hey guys, love your vids! I weigh 180 lbs and am looking for a foil to replace my Slingshot 84 for Winging. Can you describe the differences between the 1850 and 2400 for light wind for winging? For example, does the 2400 get up in noticeably lighter winds? How does the top end speed compare between these two foils? Thanks you for your input.

"cuts like a knife" -- sorry....you probably get the Bryan Adams thing all the time....but I digress. FYI: You can....and we'd really appreciate it....buy Armstrong gear through us. The CF2400 is a light wind machine. It will elevate and glide well. The HS1850 is a beast (in a good way). Although the 2400 may have some advantages on glide due to it's size, the high aspect influence in the 1850 makes up for it. The 1850 will carve better on the waves (whether lake downwind waves or ocean). I've had the 1850 in 9-14mph winds without a problem. It couples very nicely with a -2 shim. Given the weight you save by being carbon and the performance shape -- the 1850 will blow your 84cm out of the water. My recommendation is to go with the HS1850 kit w/ a 70cm fuselage, 85cm mast, and get the -2 shim. If you get this through us, I'll add in a few other goodies for you. BTW - I weight ~175lbs so we're basically twins. Shoot me an email at [e-mail] BTW - I also have the 84FSUP and have used it for winging. It has a nice glide but doesn't give you the pump performance (important to make it through the lulls on light wind days) or the sharp carves. Guys please test the 2400. I’m a large 210lb fellow and wake surf the heck out of a 2400cf. Please test this so you don’t just answer “it’s good for down winding”. If you’re a Armstrong dealer know the product. Thx

Still confused but appreciate the detail. You guys are talking "kits" to newbies but are unclear what a "kit" is. Just found out the kit doesn't include the board? Just lots to be assumed from your part in this video. Appreciate you trying to break it down but you need to start at square one if you are gonna make a video like this...

I think it's likely because most Armstrong foilers have been foiling for a while. It's an expensive set up to gain entry into foiling. As the gold standard for carbon foils, most of these foilers are going to go to the 1850 for their large foil because of a higher level of performance. That said - it seems that there's a lot of inquiry/interest in understanding the 2400's role in the line up a bit better. We're going to reach to Armstrong to see if we can make something happen. Show us. Talking heads rarely work in a spot. I used to edit , direct professionally. I could really help this vid w/out you having to change what you have, I would simply cut in examples...and you need to show the different models as you speak about them, and next to each other. I'm retired and don't need the $$, but get a good editor is my advice.
