One ski quiver is not practical, at least out west. You need a daily driver (approximately 88-104mm wide) and then a separate dedicated deep powder ski. You will have far less enjoyment skiing 18"+ of powder on a ski less than 110mm wide. Size up in length for your pow ski since it is all about flotation. Two ski quiver is a minimum out west. I would think on the east coast you would also want a two ski quiver but probably more narrow (76-88mm) with metal and damp for your daily driver and then maybe a 98-104mm for your pow ski. However, I have never skied on the east coast.

Can the Armstrong DW 930 size wing lift a 93 kg rider. I can’t find any specs on weight the wing is suited for
@HALFLIFEVIDEO3 күн бұрын
Hi Rory - the DW foils are dependent upon the conditions you'll be riding in. Most all wings will lift riders at varying weights in the right conditions. It's more about the flexibility you want when you're riding. Where will you be riding? Best Tim

So what’s better Armstrong or phantasm
@HALFLIFEVIDEO3 күн бұрын
Hi Russ -- For me and my riding style - I prefer the Armstrong over the Phantasm in every way. That said - the Phantasm price point is lower. The flexibility in terms of variety of front wings you can build around the Armstrong setup is superior. Happy to talk through this if you'd like to have a call. Best Half-Life

Great video, I'm thinking of picking up the same board/volume at 185 lbs. Are you happy with the 70L sizing vs. the 80L? I noticed they both have pretty similar dims but +10L. No regerts?
@HALFLIFEVIDEO3 күн бұрын
Hi Gone Winging -- zero regrets. You and I are basically twins -- I'm ~180-185. 70L is a great board and super flexibility for a variety of wind conditions. Love the board. If you'd like to order through us - we'd appreciate it! Best Tim

I tried this board 180L one, I feel it’s hard to stand up and keep balance. Can you give some tips for balancing? Thanks 🙏
@HALFLIFEVIDEO3 күн бұрын
Hi Oceanwaves -- that is the trade off for inflatables -- they sit on top of the water and can be more difficult to stand up on. Typically you'll want to size your inflatable +20-30% vs non inflatable. To ease standing up - spend some time behind a boat or jet ski to get used to how it rides. Additionally, learning when you have sufficient wind will help stabilize you. Light wind conditions are typically a bit more difficult. Best Half-Life Crew

Nothing could be further from the truth. Sky is a lifetime surfer and one of the most respectful riders you'll ever meet. I've spent many a day in the lineup and he's never had so much as a close call. All of that said - it is really important as a foil community that we give surfers space and first choice on waves given that we can chip in and pump out to the pre-critical wave. Best Tim

My daughter lives up in Bellevue and I want to stay at a hotel where it would be great for Wingfoiling. Can you make a recommendation for hotels that are at wingfoiling locations? Thank you very much. Scott P.

Hi Scott - I'm sorry for being slow on the response! thank you for checking out the video. Your best hotel is likely the Woodmark Hotel and Spa. It is right on lake washington at Carillon point. Carillon point is a very strong place to wing foil when you have north winds. When the wind is blowing from the South - you'll have a short paddle or a short walk down to a neighboring beach. You can walk with your gear over your shoulder to Marsh Beach which is good for either direction of wind. Have fun! Tim

OK, So I can Tow Foil on a large 90 liter board 2400 wing 90 mast... and looking to progress into foil kiting with my own Armstong Foils... Question, What size should I be looking at for a front foil to get me started something as small as a 900 / 1200 or should I consider a larger 2400? isn't the 2400 too large for kiting?? Also need some guidance on the tail wing size 300? and fuselage length. I'm a 90kg / 198 lb rider. Any advice is greatfully received.
@HALFLIFEVIDEO3 күн бұрын
Hi Wilkothewiz -- NO - You should NOT tow in on a 90L board (at least to material size waves). I'm sure you can but it's not my recommendation. We typically tow in on a 4 ft or 3'9 board (Armstrong WKT109 or 122). Yes - the 2400 is too large for kiting -- and -- it has been replaced. I apologize but I'm confused on whether we're talking kite foil, wing foil, or wake foil. You can reach us at 909-698-0401. We should talk so I can give the right advice Best Tim

I can get up but have so much trouble with steering. Keep falling of after like 10 seconds because the board goes left or right and i lose balance. Got any tips?
@HALFLIFEVIDEOАй бұрын
99% of the time that is because of two things: 1) foot position. Make sure you're athletic center of your foot is centered on the board. You can identify the center by the footstrap holes or markings on the board. a 1/2 inch can make all the difference. 2) Posture - it's natural for folks coming from wake surfing to be very back foot heavy. Remember....foiling is 60% front foot so double check your stance. String from crown, shoulders on hips, hips over feet. Hi Robert - you can certainly kite foil with this wing. However - you may enjoy the MA800 a bit better given you ride the 925. The MAs ride a bit bigger than their size due to design. You always may absolutely love the HA880. Hope the Kite Foiling summer has been great to you! Best Tim

Sweet. I’m in Pdx! Love the footage. Umm did you really mean $12,000? Or $1,200??
@HALFLIFEVIDEOАй бұрын
Hi Jen -- I sure wish I meant $1,200....but no....$12,000. When you add up the carbon (all carbon board plus mast, foils), the engine & controller, case, batteries, etc you get up there pretty quickly. There are some off brands but we just have seen reliable performance so for now -- Lift and Fliteboard are the two best products. If the price is too steep - we recommend to hold off as opposed to going with one of the less expensive models. Foil Drive is an option but really it's best for folks with an ocean break as opposed to trying to use it on a lake. Hope this helps. Except those pesky interchangeable wings. Oh and that aluminum mast... oh and the noisier motor... well and the nose happy attitude. hmmm maybe still chasing Lift.....
@alexioflexio8818Ай бұрын
doesn't breaching happen more easily with the Lift, with the prop so much higher up the mast?
@HALFLIFEVIDEOАй бұрын
No -- And - you can ride through any prop exposure. Just because the prop comes out of the water doesn't mean you breach. In fact, the prop placement allows you to put adapters on the mast (custom fuselage) that allows you to make the most of your quiver from other disciplines. For example for prone, wing, tow-in foiling we use Armstrong. We have a custom fuselage that we put on which allows us to use the full Armstrong quiver we have. What a blast. You can not do this on Flite.

I’ve loved your videos as I’ve gotten started foiling this summer. I’m wondering what kind of boat you have? I’ve gone behind a ski boat and managed to drop the rope for a period but have trouble keeping the wave. I ride an infinity 76 and I’m about 185. Maybe a bigger foil would help? Any tips would be appreciated!

Hi Alang -- Excellent! Thank you for watching our videos and congratulations on the progress you've made so far! At the time we shot this video we had a Mastercraft X23 (this is a surf boat) and a Malibu Sunsetter LXI (tournament ski boat) and we foiled both. The infinity 76 is ok for a ski boat but you'll have much better luck on the 84cm slingshot. If you're insterest in Armstrong Foils (we are a dealer for Armstrong) -- the S1 1550 foil kit would be great for where you're at. For reference in the videos -- I weight 180lb -- so we're pretty close in size. Feel free to call us 909-698-0401 if you'd like to talk through it. Best Tim

I'm guessing it was to save money but they should have fused that bottom fuselage adapter piece inside the mast at the factory ...would make it more solid. That's what Neil Pryde does with their aluminum masts very solid build.
@HALFLIFEVIDEO2 ай бұрын
Interesting point. Either the mast or the fuse. I'm guessing Armie had a reason. When I rode it -- it was solid. No vibration or downside to the design choice. We typically would feel any looseness in the first 10 turns -- didn't happen. Solid. Thank you for checking out the video! Appreciate it! hope you have a great foiling summer Half-Life Crew

How-ever I cant pump hard enough to get a 180 on glide. Please recommend to people to wear an absolutely thick lifejacket. Yes! Get a shorter mast. Typical for wake foiling is 72cm or so. We ride a performance 795 mast from Armstrong but that's as long as we would recommend. Another great video! I've been riding a HS1250 behind the boat and I really like it except I have trouble consistently pumping back to catch 2nd and 3rd waves. I also have the HS1850 and can pump easily with it but don't find it as fun behind the boat. I have gained a little weight recently 205lbs, I'm wondering if the MA1225 would allow me the same carving characteristic as the 1250, but with better pumping?
@HALFLIFEVIDEO3 ай бұрын
Hi Richard - thank you for checking out the video! Glad you're having a good time out there foiling. A couple ideas for you: 1) Add a 50cm fuselage to your quiver -- fun for HS1250 and the HS1850. 2) Add a V200 tail to ride with your HS1850 - it will loosen the ride up 3) Be sure to increase your pump cadence when you go to pump the HS1250 -- its a quicker cadence and keep it high! Now....to answer your actual question. Yes - the MA1225 (I like it with the V200 tail) is very responsive and has more glide than the 1250. Just remember to move it up in the mast track compared to the HS. You could also go with a MA1475 but it sounds like you'd like a looser ride. We have it all in stock so if you'd like to buy from us (which we always appreciate) just drop us a line -- email [email protected] or call us at (909) 698-0401 Best Tim
