The Boeing jetfoil is a 100 ton ship foilborne the ship has a 5,000 lb. drag in the water. I worked on test crew on 8 of those ships. There were 50 years a head of there time. They would turn on a dime and give 9 cents in change at 55 knots.

Very cool! we have a hydrofoil ferry here in Seattle, it's always a joy, and twice as fast as the regular ferry!

you might be able to lower ceiling in cabin where seats are (5 block minimum), but retain walking space for the center aisle. This would give the block you need for the bridge height.

1:11 nope, thats a myth, you only generate downforce by tipping back the wing. Gliders maximize efficiency by having a near horizontal wing and thus people think something funky is happening but in reality the glider pilot just pitches back when they need more lift, same on paper planes. jumbo jets have about a 5° wing tilt for reference giving them a pretty good effeciency but higher stall speed, also for reference the maximum tilt you can have on a wing is about 15° before you start getting diminishing returns. Please beeat this myth out of any places you find it.
@strangelf2 жыл бұрын
I believe it’s both, there’s definitely some funky stuff happening with pressures (some parts of the airflow over the wing go supersonic before others), but AoA also definitely has something to do with lift
@bjboss11192 жыл бұрын
@@strangelf opon further research it seems it is a mixture of both, however since doing one method typically does the other, it seems evidence on one being more important is hard to come by until you get to hypersonic pressure waves, which is nothing like weakling subsonic pressure waves qnd is hard to understand
@strangelf2 жыл бұрын
@@bjboss1119 I’d assume the AoA has a great effect mostly regardless of speed, but the pressure waves depend greatly on speed. I believe it is clearly visible when doing a banked turn; the lower wing is more susceptible to a stall. if the flow over the lower wing becomes turbulent, the wing stalls and looses enough lift to tumble the plane. So I presume both are equally important at lower speeds

This might be a dumb question, but have considered actually becoming a teacher? You actually explain the real science behind the systems you build on top of how to build them and how they work.
