What happens to the oxides of nitrogen that are formed by the combustion of Natural gas and tail gas?
@mahleragsgmbh22025 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for your question. You are correct. It is very important for the environment and our customers to reduce the NOx(:= oxides of nitrogen)-emission to the lowest possible value. Therefore we are only using “Low-NOx-Burners” which have been developed exactly for following task: controlled combustion of natural gas/process gas with ambient air. But also Mahler AGS’ whole burner system consisting of multiple control loops (e.g. temperature control, ratio-adjustment…) has been optimized for efficiency and lowest emission of NOx. Due to this technology no further treatment of the flue gas for the removal of NOx is necessary.

What if the CO2 than can be formed through this process be used in an algae farm that is able to capture the gas and then turn it into a bio diesel and animal feed
@mahleragsgmbh22025 жыл бұрын
In principle it is possible to extract the CO2 produced within this process and to reuse it for other purposes and processes. An additional process step and thus additional equipment is necessary in order to purify the CO2. Mahler AGS is also developing and investigating different solutions for the CO2-reuse (e.g. power to chemicals or power to SNG approaches) in order to be able to offer such solutions to the industry.

Matthew Knobel The problem with transformation to bio diesel is the transesterification process which produces CO2 in itself, if we manage the recycling of CO2 will be a great process. Mohammed.teleb@enervail.com

imo can an algae farm consume all the co2 timely from the steam reforming plant? I am not sure...

I'm not sure if it is more efficient to produce hydrogen directly from sun using solar thermal or PV rather than using a but surely it worth to investigate :)

or you can just use it and some more of that steam to make methane and thus more hydrogen

How much of 1) CO 2) CO2 3) NOx is usually emitted into atmosphere per 1kg of H2 produced with this technology? And what's usuall electrical energy consumption per 1kg of H2 produced?

I have a doubt about what type of catalyst you use for the reaction to happen. Is it nickel or what do you refer when you say that you use a catalyst.
@muhammadnurulhakim93285 жыл бұрын
It should be nickel, my final project at university using nickel catalyst for steam reforming

Queries: Is H2 heavier than natural gas!? Why the reformer gas is exiting the reactor from downside?
@mahleragsgmbh22023 жыл бұрын
This is just the flow direction. The tubes are flown through from top to botttom. This is unrelated to the mass of the components.

What type of reactor is used for the steam reforming in this case?
@mahleragsgmbh22023 жыл бұрын
Typically it's several tubes placed in a heated furnace. The reaction takes place within the tubes.
@212025510 Жыл бұрын
It's probably wrong. Methane must be broken up much sooner than the moment it gets to the adsorption stage. Adsorption is just the separation. I wonder if you know what you're talking about.

For what purpose using steam. What is the major role of steam
@mahleragsgmbh22023 жыл бұрын
The purpose of steam in the steam reforming process is to provide oxygen for oxydation of the methane and hydrogen for the hydrogen formation. E.g. CH4 + 2H2O CO2 + 4H2. You will find several related chemical equilibrium equations online.

i want to extract hydrogen from martian methane to make h2o. so on a trip to mars i would take more oxygen than hydrogen. and less potassium than the other 2 chemicals in npk. less magnesium also. for grass and other plants. and extract the oxygen from that.
