A suggestion, use a striker for lighting the flame, I have seen people use small lighters to fire up torches before and the lighter blow up in their hand because the flame ran down into the fuel, or the flame melted a hole in the lighter.

You have your holes at same place so your plates can't create so much that way. It's better to have first plate 2-3 holes at the bottom and next plate 3 holes on left side, next 3 holes on right side etc until last plate where the exit is and have 3-4 holes at top to get best effect out of everything. I use 22 plates, size 150mm x 150mm and gives me plenty of HHO.

Called a flashback, all the hydrogen in line line is exploding, thats why we have the bubbler. If there was nothing stopping the hydrogen from flashing back into the main container it would blow it self up.

It's impurities in the steel nail. The nails had a little bit a rust on it so it was probably the small amounts of Iron-Oxide (rust) that was popping

The residue on the plates is due to the use of brass bolts is simply made a galvanic reaction (the chemical added will support this further). Use stainless steel in all parts and get rid of residue + rust/oxidation. Btw..a flame arrestor would be a must-have safety feature. I almost wanted to say "Happy new year" as you melted the nail.. You can fabricate one by yourself a tube and some stainless steel wool is all it takes to be safe. Nice generator setup.

havent had to clean mine since I bought it 3 years ago.. thing is... the plates arent just normal stainless.. they're 316L grade stainless... which is the most resistant to grain boundary carbide precipitation.. aka the leaching of iron into you water.. I also use 9x distilled water so it has no mineral's or elements in it either. still looks like when I bought it.

Distilled water doesn't conduct. It's the minerals and impurities that make water conductive. He's just using the least corrosive means to make the water it's most conductive. Could use salt water but it creates corrosion. It all depends on what your tap water has in it. More than likely you have hard water that will work just fine or even better but then you have the corrosion and calcium scale build up on the plates.

Redo the generator and rethink the gaskets to make a gas separator generator.It is simple. Look on this site and you will find the way to make it.It is similar to the heat exchangers in the boards. Mixed gases are dangerous because Hydrogen has a stoichiometric ratio variable and can be lit at any proportion HH + O. Success!

So I guess the safety bubbler thingie is for when the flame burns back though the tubing it cannot reach the generator and blow it up. Is that correct? How thick are the cables which connect the generator to the power supply (the cross section I mean)? Don't use table salt it will produce a poisonous gas called Chlorine gas. use baking soda. Also use stainless steel plates and bolts. Also put the plates in this order + - + - and so on and so forth. Use household cable that goes in your walls. And yes the flash back erstor is to prevent flash backs from happening which is when the fire comes inside the tube.

Nice work but still people attempt HHO production is with electrolyse process whatever the plate are arranged or pulse signal. Have seen all and still the reaction is not efficient ( max 18 %) I will explain new design that is not over unity but it will lead to > 90 % efficiency. It is the electric field: In fact the water molecule is dipole (Charged molecule) in strong electrical field it will be aligned and fixed direction. When you vibrate the lectical field then the O and H will oscillate. If you reach the proper frequency of molecule water then it will brake the connection and separate HH from O. To get strong electrical field two option : two plate very close with low voltage or high voltage with distand plate. In both case you need to isolate well the plate to avoid electrical arc. Electrical circuit with variable frequency to oscillate the field and see if there is a frequency will split the water molecule. Un fortunatlly the frequency I have seen in article around 77 000 GHz, bu if the static strong electrical field when it is applied it will stretch the molecule and change may be the proper frequency. No theory about that only experience will lead to conclusion. It time to stop normal electrolyse and pass to strong static electric fiend with oscillation in Mhz may be we will get 90 % effiency of HHO production. No need to make big sample and expensive, simple two insulated plate is enough with static strong electrical field.

This is the same as electroplating,you need to use pure materials,distilled water and non oxidising metals,austenitic stainless steel or titanium for the plates,look at some biulds using mild steel plates,the plates become sacrificial and turn to brown then black sludge very quickly,maintenance for that is not going to be fun,stripping and replacing plates,then cleaning out the entire system,and do not get solder,or copper or any other metal other than stainless(316 is best,304 is fine) or titanium in the mix,this IS chemistry,and it is a reactionary process ,treat it as such and it will work well.

@carsandwater i know how to get it to store all of that hydrogen and oxygen take a air compressor and instead of it pulling air you could find a way for it to pull from a filled container with a valve to keep your design from failing then find a way to hook up your torch head to a compressor hose through limitors to lessen flow a little to burst it out not only making it good for on time use but to also get it to heat up materials faster like a blow torch or oxyacetylene container is depressurized then filled with acetylene making it able to push out a high volume except instead of you storing them seperrately you are keeping them combined only able to cut

That's very bad and dangerous idea..! Never EVER try to compress a gas mixture that is so unbelievable reactive than the gas produced in a cell. One tiny spark and you'll find yourself in a place of deep shit. If you should survive, the ER room is the next stop. You'll collect NOTHING from your house insurance because you literally played around with a bomb. Probably the police may pay you a visit too...for endangering other peoples life and property.

I learned to disregard any cell that had neutral plates in it..... simply because the output was so low.... if that cell was +-+-+- throughout it's stack ...then you would have something... something more useful than blowing up bubbles .... like adding to the intake of your car and then leaning out the cars normal fuel and you would get an increase in MPG ...Bob.....

Also having to clean a Hydroxy cell is unfortunately a necessity..... I switched to lemonade kool aid mix the last year I had the generator on the truck and that helped allot but it still got dirty.....just slower is all....(it took about 12 packets to get 20 amps) smelled alot better than the KOH though ! I cleaned my hydroxy cell about once a year, I used KOH and drew 20 amps on 2 small cells and got 2 LPM consistently..... the hardest part of running Hydroxy gas in a vehicle is getting the darn computer to stop changing it's fuel mixture.... I blocked the exhaust sensor, and changed the air sensor to make it leaner, but it was still too rich, finally a friend of mine ,Randy told me about his nephew's change that did the trick, we called it a "Matt Valve" it was a garden hose and small on off ball valve that went to the air box to the tube on the intake, going around and bypassing the air sensor for the computer.... I could lean out the engine till it staggered then ! and that is what I wanted ....I'ed start the engine turn on the Hydroxy gas, and then adjust the little ball valve on the garden hose to where it just started to stagger, then back it up a tad...... I got 48 MPG from my toyota R22 pickup by doing that. ran it for 4 or 5 years but I got so sick of having to take and clean the generator that I took it off completely ! ....now you know how to do it..... you got work to do !
