Steve does a great job in all his videos with practical no BS explanations of hydronic heating basics . Every installation is different and Steve gets you through the baby steps with ease . Now if you want to put in a 20 zone system with a nest thermostat in every room you are all set . Thanks Steve

Out standing job steve. I would like to request from u a video showing us how to properly drain and purge air from a hot water boiler that has circulators. Thanks buddy
@BlisterHiker6 жыл бұрын
I would've definitely done most of the assembly you show between 6:43 - 10:20 in advance, then measured where the holes should be, drilled them and installed the unit. Much easier, more convenient and less risk of burning something that shouldn't be burned.

Those monoflo tees are a great invention, but we call them injector tees in The UK and use them for a slightly different purpose. They are usually used on the boiler return close to the boiler, where a pumped heating return and gravity/non-pumped hot water return come together in the tee to go into the boiler's return on a single tapping. The pumped heating return helps to suck the gravity hot water return into the tee and on into the boiler's return. This is an old fashioned system, as most heating and hw primaries are now fully pumped.Keep up the good work Steve. Your vids are top class. Not just 'next level' - BUT RIGHT AT THE TOP!!!! Good work man! Ian (UK)

Great video!!! Your dog is awesome! I’m in the process of installing a K42 hydronic toe kick space heater under our kitchen cabinet. I’m having a hard time determining which lines are supply and return in my basement. I’m able to follow the supply coming off my IBC Combi Boiler but that disappears in the walls (split level home). Meaning I’m able to determine some lines that go into a Brass Y to a 1 1/4 return back to the boiler but the spaghetti lines in the basement ceiling is a bit confusing. I want to make sure to feed the toe kick heater with the correct supply and return. Appreciate any help you can give. Already picked up on using the scoop T’s which I purchased from the website you recommended.Thx again for the great videos!

Kickspace units are a great idea- they get plugged up by pet hair pretty quick but easy to vacuum out. Nice job- fast and neat. Mebbe a couple of unions to help out the next guy if there are none at the front.
@stevenlavimoniere10 жыл бұрын
xiao glieng i am not a big fan of unions they leak . its not a big deal to unsweet the solder joint to remove the heater in the future if needed there was no room for baseboard heating .thats why i installed this kick base heater.

I always pipe baseboards in series. My understanding is they need 100% flow. Monotees would only be used in a parallel loop on cast iron radiators. Can you please explain why you would use them in a copper baseboard system? I would think they would put air in a baseboard, and since baseboards dont have bleeders because they are purged at the return (like you showed), they wouldn't get as hot because of trapped air from the monotees. Nice install.
@stevenlavimoniere10 жыл бұрын
Dave Bogusky no you need the monoflow tees for this kickbaseheater to send the water up to it.of the 3/4 loop .tees can not be to close together or to close to a 90 or they will not work right
@daveb937010 жыл бұрын
steven lavimoniere Thanks. I wanted to find out about the monotees for that heater install. I've been watching your videos. Very informative. I like your 34 Ford PU-badass!
@pcno28328 жыл бұрын
+Dave Bogusky Don't you need monoflow tees (or one big plenum) to put a valve (static or thermostatic) on each radiator? I'd miss being able to shut them off individually.
@codyhraban442 жыл бұрын
I've watched a lot of your videos and am wondering if you know if they make a thermostatic valve for a non steam hot water radiator? The old cast iron radiators to be specific. I have searched and searched and every thermostatic valve I find is for steam. Thanks.

I put one in. Been a plumber for years and I keep purging the air out. It kicks on then it kicks off. I'm starting to wonder if one of the Ts is not a moniflow. One I can see thr writing thr other I cant see thr righting for direction. I did not do the piping. I was thinking about putting a shutoff on the middle of the Ts and see if that works and make sure both Ts are moniflow.

Thank You for the video's. I have a question. Installing a kick heater with 1/2'' feeds. My supply line is also 1/2''. I can only find 3/4x1/2 mono flow tee's. Can I neck the 3/4'' mono flow down to 1/2 and expect it to still work properly ? Or just install the heater inline without the tee's ? It's an old house 1 zone cast iron radiators. Thanks for any advise.

steven lavimoniere I have already done that a few times. I'm not yet used to the amount of heat an air-acetylene torch generates. I'll send you a photo of what I have done so far when I head back to class on Monday. It takes practice to develop a key HVAC/Plumbing skill.

are there clearances needed between the drywall with those kick plate heaters?
@stevenlavimoniere9 жыл бұрын
dansweeney10 yes you need air space for heater to move air across the coil it pull in from around the front plate and blows out the middle of heater .as you can see under the cabenit is a big box the heater is put in

That one circulator is enough for all those zones? But since it looks like the boiler is not down in a basement, maybe it doesn't have so far and high to pump.

I had a h v 2 inch system 1 zone and the b and g went down , it was a late call and cold day 4 story. I temporarily put in a 007 and it worked. I know it won’t work permanently. But got through the night pick up a pump when supply store opened.

Hey I have a 1 zone loop system for my house. Can I install the kickspace heater in the same loop? Will water always flow through the heater even if the fans off ?
@stevenlavimoniere10 жыл бұрын
Silva Jr yes you can water will flow through what the zone calls for heat .there is a temp censer on pipe, when it gets hot will turn on fan you have to use monoflow tees on the loop to push water into kick base heater

Nice job! Need some help for my install. We are installing new kitchen cabinets. Installing one kickbase in kitchen on a single zone that is at the beginning for entire first floor. Removing 4' baseboard and replacing with Beacon Morris K84. It is the beginning of zone for first floor. Should I take out baseboard and put 3/4" in place. Then tee off that with the 3/4" to 1/2 " mono flo tee's ? Do you recommend the flex hose install kit? Thanks for any help.
@stevenlavimoniere10 жыл бұрын
Dennis Dietrich yes on the monoflow tees make sure you put them in right ,one way is supply and other way is return .i would not use the hose kit i had them leak before .pipe it of with 1/2 copper ..on the monoflow tees you need 12" before and fitting or elbow
@ChristopherFarley-w3o Жыл бұрын
U can’t purge a monoflo loop at the boiler… Shouldve put a shutoff and boiler drain on the return side before it reaches the mono tee or put a heel tee on the return on the unit with key air valve 🤷🏼♂️

HI Steve, thanks for the great videos, quick question about kickbase heaters. My system is 3/4' copper if I added one of these in my bathroom with a 1/2" into the loop doesn't that cut down the flow for the entire loop, reducing heating capacity?
