Another idea for material for the rings is those plastic yard sale signs. Sturdier then cardboard yet still easy to cut with a sharp utility nice. You can also purchase sheet styrene at most hobby ships.

@@GrowLikeAPro I would say the limiting factor would be the light. To get proper result, I put regular 60w bulb (I think it's 6W or 9W LED inside the bulb?) I put the bulb very close to the plants and I put about 1 bulb per square feet (around 6" to 12" above). I also display mirror around the plants to optimise the light, temperature and humidity.

Hello Mr. Pro. Ive been thinking this through since watching your video today. You can take large plastic jugs, like milk jugs, 2 liter bottles, liquid laundry detergent, basically anything that your template will fit again and trace out the outline. If cut comes from a slightly curved section of the bottle, it can be heated to make it lay flat. Using a hair dryer, warm it till it is malleable and place a heavy book on top of it and let it cool.

@GrowLikeAPro no, thank you for sharing. I recycle as much as I can and this project is perfect for recycling. The laundry detergent bottles would make a unique looking kratky system. It might could use a 3 or 4 inch net cup.

Would thin plastic cutting mats in place of the cardboard also work?

Isn't aeration really important with hydroponics? How often do you change or bubble the water?

This is the most simple method called the Kracky method. It requires NO airation ( via an electric pump ) There are many videos that will go into depth on this, but I've had super success with my plants so far. I have not changed the water, but am replenishing it almost daily. The plants are very thirsty at this point in time. I have a pumpkin plant which is getting out of control at this point and is drinking a lot of water.... and I have NO place to put it, as we are still in winter up here in Canada, as I type this, it's minus 19 degrees C. ( that's minus 2.2 degrees Fahrenheit ) and we have about 3 feet of snow out there. My planting time is the first week of June, so this plant will prob end up too big eventually and I'll just have to let it die.
