I wish the Kraken was out 1 year ago when I built my tank. I cut out 2 10 plug power bricks into my cabinet. Now the Kraken is out.... that power backup control looks awesome.

I am so happy to see this product. I have wanted something like this for years and even bought some hardware to make my own but never took the time to finish the product. Happy to see a meanwell power supply. No more dead COR-20 power supplies for me! Can 24v devices be run off of battery backup?

One thing that wasn't mentioned, it measures the load current on each individual outlet. It will send you a notification if the device draws too much or too little current. So it will tell you if the attached device fails.

It's just a meanwell power supply, they are a very good PS but if it fails you loose all of your pumps. Good idea, it's going to be a bit more efficient, but adds a different risk. The distribution block is a nice adder but unless adapters are offered to hook your equipment of different brands you will need to have all Hydros equipment. They tend to use obscure one-of-a-kind obscure chineese connectors.

That "obscure Chinese connector" is a gx series aircraft connector available from US, European, Japanese and Chinese suppliers. It is used because the barrel.connectors typically used by equipment manufacturers corrode and fail under load in the corrosive environment of an aquarium. Cables will be supplied to common barrell connectors

@@donedvalson334 I have several Reef Octo return pumps(a bulletproof pump) and 2 sets of Icecap Gyre pumps, all Coralview products, they all have barrel connectors for power. None of them have corroded. They are rated for 5 amps but if you flow 2 amps through them you can measure a voltage drop... and the obscure connectors for the pumps. Since the gyres don't have a cable long enough to get the second pump to the other end of a 4 foot tank, and nothing is available from Coralview, I found some that fit on a website selling connectors for Chinese addressable LED Christmas lights to use for an extension. That makes even less sense to put a different connector on an accessory that the equipment it goes with has. No Coralview pumps have any such connectors on them. To use this you will need to also purchase adapters to a barrel connector, adding a connection and another point that can fail. I'll stick to boards of my own design for battery backup control and recharging and a handfull of $16 smaller meanwell power supplies.

Doesn’t the amperage of each individual device matter? Everything can’t get or need 20 amps.

20 amps total. Great for pumps and things. Not generally enough for main lights.

Not quite. Each pump or device will draw its own amperage based on the supplied voltage. While voltage will be the same for each device on a parallel circuit, they will each draw their own current.

One more thing, the current for each device is cumulative with a limit of 20amps total.

The list would be very large and unnecessary. Running on 24V or 12V is the only requirement

This would cover almost ANYTHING running at 24v or 12v...it could be a tv, who cares, this just provides constant power, power monitoring, etc. The Kraken cable will replace the power brick the original device came with.

Don't update your Firware for your Matertroincs as the new firmware will not let you connect the test results with your HYDROS and since Coralvue lost the distribution contract they no longer support it. I just wish they would of said something. Be Kind guys to your customers and let us know.
