Nice invention. It can be VERY useful. My concern though is that it won't be fully integrated into the initial fire attack due to the heavy "cultural nature" of the fire service. We've been doing things a certain way for a LONG time. I worry that it will be seen as a novelty or gimmick and end up "rusting" at the bottom of whatever compartment it's hidden in. The way this tool is integrated into a department is just as important as the functionality of it.

A good parallel would be how vertical ventilation was introduced in the 1980's. My department introduced it with a comprehensive training and skills assessment process. It has been very successful. That being said, it was followed with a positive pressure horizontal ventilation program. Both work well in their place and can have disastrous effects when done improperly.
