This plant was laying on road side drain , I thought to pick it up for my tank , by I gut question , will it grow from stem as i cut a long plant into 3 pieces

It does not grow under every condition. In my tank new leaves were white und the plant stopped growing. After adding some iron, new leaves are green again.
