What is the headroom? I'm 6'4" tall. Most people are 6 ft at most. When someone shorter than me says "plenty of headroom" it actually IS very subjective and I cannot take their word for it. Especially on a sailboat I need concrete numbers of how high the headroom is. Preferably metric but I can make do with feet and inches. It's a stunning, gorgeous boat. But if I don't fit, it's not worth me fantasising about it.

What's the point of having the chart plotter so far from the helmsman? Oyster do that as well and I just can't understand why you wouldn't want that at the helm for situational awareness.

It's all about personal preference! In the majority of modern offshore cruising situations you are rarely sitting behind the helm, but rather protected sitting under the dodger while on autopilot. Some would prefer to have an unblocked sightline from the helm station and the ability to see the plotter is easy thanks to the modern screens. Also, the plotters have the ability to mirror the image to an iPad or other tablet. If you order a Hylas 48 we'd be happy to have it fitted at the helm for you.

Ok, nice and quality build boat but... $846,000!! for this amount, I buy a Hallberg Rassy 44 or even 48 I'll pay the difference, better equipped - they have a real engine room, no need to ly down in kitchen doing the maintenance - a real saloon with good sized table - no more ropes or manoeuvers in cockpit! and far more seaworthy, take the selftacking jibrail, here it is to narrow. Amung other rooms ventilation in the galley here is unsuffiscient. Lower with 100 grand your price and you have a fair price! Like the boat but is overpriced.

I couldn't tell from the video - is there a tack point ahead of the genoa to so that one can fly a furling lightwind sail? I'm assuming that it's a fractional rig so that this would not be a problem at the top of the mast? Any options for a hard dodger? I always find that these canvas dodgers seem quite "dinky" compared to the rest of the boat when installed on an otherwise high quality boat like this.

The Hylas 48 has a masthead rig but a furling gennaker is a possibility and several have been done on other masthead Hylas’. Peter Grimm @ North Sails would be the right person to chat with about that setup. We can do a hard dodger/bimini if desired. We’ve found the majority of Hylas owners like the flexible dodger as it's easy to open for more airflow. The canvas design is top-notch with up-sized tubing and built in LED lighting. You can see an example of a hard bimini on the Hylas 56 ‘Serenity2’ which we just listed. - Erik Haaland 410-279-3027

Hi Bertram Merlin, on the contrary. The seascapes are spectacular from the main salon thanks to the large portholes to port and starboard in the main salon and aft cabin.

It can be, but I think it gives a too big feel in the main salon. 😃 I prefared could look out like on fx Sirius 40 DS I think are boat of the year.

How long does it take to fulfill an order from time someone signs the papers and makes a down payment? Also, tell me about teak decks. Can you get and do they get too hot?

​@@danbush7270 for the H48, the build time is between 9 months and 1 year. Teak decks are available and can be done with either black, cream, or grey caulking. The lighter colored caulking is a little cooler on the feet and a very attractive option. Please contact [e-mail] for more information on new Hylas Yacht construction.

It's hard to make repair if that's the set up of the engine for that price. I'm fucking buying Amel 50.
