The applause at the end demonstrates that this church enjoys organ music, and for one of the Priests there-at full blast. He told me one Saturday after practicing that he LOVES it when the organ "shakes the building!" To Scott Robelot, so very sorry for the delayed response as I got your question on Google + and oddly, not here on KZbin in the comments section of this video where I could've answered it sooner. Also, your question only shows up on my phone and not on my desktop, so go figure.... The 32' Contra Bourdon is actually a 16' Bourdon that is capped, and the 32' Contra Posaune is 1/2 length, but good especially C, C#, and D. Have you seen the stoplist? You seemed to be familiar with it.

Oh, okay that's a good place to find information. I'm glad that you got my reply. This and the earlier videos shot from the gallery don't do the organ much justice although oddly enough, my latest videos sound far better than this one (perhaps having the camcorder on the right side versus the left side of the console makes a difference) but the absolute best is called 'Come Labor On Rehearsal' which was recorded from the nave floor away from the organ with the acoustics of the room really making it a spectacular sound in my opinion. You get to hear the organ as though you were walking around the church as my son (the cameraman) was nearest the Altar with the organ at the other end in the gallery. Check out that video and you'll hear the difference, and how effective the 32' Posaune really is and just how fiery the Trompette en Chamade is too on its low wind pressure. Thanks!

Since I'm computer challenged (lol), I'll have to wait until my son has the time to come over to my place to upload those audio recordings with a slide show for me. Yeah, having the camcorder up in the gallery with me recorded more of the organ than it did the choir except in the All Saints Day service. That final hymn was a most popular one (All Creatures of Our God and King), and the Cathedral was packed.

Only about my 3rd video from you, but I'm already getting addicted. What I enjoy so much (other than the music itself which is so worshipful!) is watching you work with the other service leaders. When we see videos of, for example, Olivier Latry playing at mass, we don't get the sense that he is interacting with the rest of the worship experience, so much as that he is simply providing his content -- take it or leave it. (I love his playing. I'm must saying...) I don't know your story or background, and so I'm not trying to evaluate your playing against world-traveling concertizers like Latry. But I am saying that I love the servanthood that every good church organist exhibits every week, and that you demonstrate. Thanks for sharing your videos!

Thank you Mr. Layton, but I'm an amateur organist who plays by ear so I wish that I was good enough or at least professionally trained to have a church job. How I wish that I could play like Olivier Latry or ANY of the French organists as they're tremendous. He and his colleagues are very detached being at the opposite end of the Cathedral from the choir and clergy I must acknowledge. +bhigdaddymark Some of the best, and most fun, church organist I know play complete services by ear. You are using your talents as they are and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that! I am professionally trained, and the French School is my area of specialty. I can see and feel why you are drawn to it. Keep playing and using what you have as humbly as you do. That's what makes its so special to me. I follow your postings faithfully, and I can't say enough how much I love to see you play. You play better than many of my very highly trained fellow colleagues.

+bhigdaddymark I have not been a full time organist and choirmaster for some years now. I fill in at a number of different churches. I am currently a PhD psychology student earning my doctorate in consciousness and neuroscience so I sit at the console when I can. Thank you, and continued success for you at the console.
