BEAUTIFUL ~ CAT STEVANS (YUSSUF)
@mylist4039 Жыл бұрын
It is a Christian hymn first published in 1931 by Eleanor Farjeon. It is set to the Scottish Gaelic tune, "Bunessan". Cat Stevens sang a beautiful version of this hymn in 1971. It was included in his album "Teaser and the Firecat", and became quite popular.

@@mylist4039 Cat Stevens version pales next to that of Mary Hopkin .. a live version from 1972 is on KZbin . She states she sang the song while in infant school

He found the music industry highly stressful, due to pressures from the money men to make money by driving the stars till the pips squeak. Maybe Islam seemed a good way out from that health and sanity overstressing, since he could then hide behind the "my religion says music is haram" idea, that the purist muslims hold to, and indeed neglected his God-given talents in music for decades. I think he may actually be coming to christianity though now from some recent behaviours ... his family are Greek Orthodox.
