san fransico and ny rent is high because they made so many successful people and attracted so many college educated people there. its like 53 murders a year in sans fransico (population 815k). its 256 murders in dc with a population of 630k (and even with mad gentrification). dc way way worse than san fransico. its super rich mofos in sf. software devs making like 300k a year working at amazon. I would say you are more likely to get robbed in DC than baltimore. Baltimore not really that dangerous for random people. Crack is what turned up the hoods. Crack is gone except for like a handful of blocks.
