Considering her age (26), HYNN is arguably the best singer in South Korea, and easily Top 5-10 worldwide. She is the definition of a natural born vocal talent. Unlike "idols" who go through years of vocal training, HYNN was an amateur that was discovered 8 years ago when she auditioned for a televised singing competition (SuperstarK) as a high schooler where she ended up placing 3rd. Her audition song was a cover of Ailee's "HIGHER" (Ailee is also a famous Korean-American singer known for strong belting vocals) which she sang in front of Ailee who was a judge on the show, as well as a panel of some of the most legendary South Korean singers. This is probably why she can connect so much with the heartbreaking/hardship aspects of her songs since she definitely experienced a tough childhood. This is also probably the reason why she isn't "swaggy" and stays rather humble knowing how blessed she is, having overcome her tough childhood and being the sole provider for her family. The fact that she is only 26 and is one of the most complete vocalists in the world, sets her apart from every other singer. She is literally in a category of her own, especially taking into consideration her mastery of emotive singing and impeccable vocal control. Her ability to instantly weave through octaves without losing power yet still maintaining emotive is unrivaled. Many Kpop fans try to argue that there favorite singers/idols are the best, but objectively, they are not even comparable to HYNN. There is a reason why nobody in Kpop covers HYNN's songs because they are extremely difficult and most singers struggle, even the singers that are supposedly top-tier. There is a compilation of top-tier idol/singers trying to cover HYNN's song, and you can tell how difficult it is for them, or they have to lower the range just to get through. Please check Chanyeol's new release. He did a collab with a Chinese singer and sang a new version (in Chinese) of EXO's "Baby don't cry". There's only lyric video so far and a short clip with a bit behind scenes. His voice sound so good. 😊

I like Kerry's analysis, I literally got lost in my thoughts. Unfortunately, I don't think she will become a favorite for the reasons that Simon said - her voice and her songs "are proper songs that singers sing when they are singing" which makes me want to KNOW what she's signing about. If her songs were in a language I understand, she would be a top 3 because I would be listening and singing along (maybe even crying) to them. She's lovely - definitely one who could make me want to learn Korean so I can understand her. ❤❤❤
