Andrew, Thanks for doing this video. One question: Is is necessary to actually remove the rear axel instead of just unhooking the lower end of the shock?

You did not have to take the axle bolt out. Just the suspension bolt😊

Some of the teeth broke off while I was riding on the highway and very quickly after that more broke off to the point where the bike wouldn't go anymore.

Useful info this. Question for you, does your belt sit to one side of the rear pulley? I find mine always rubs against the outside edge, with the wheel straight or with the wheel adjusted to be not straight... very odd...
@andrewmorris22408 жыл бұрын
+crasstoe I thought it was pretty even wear in the middle on mine, not too sure now
@crasstoe8 жыл бұрын
+Andrew Morris if you get a chance take a look at it for me and see where yours sits in the rear pulley. Just curious...

Hi what size socket is the axle bolts? Needed to check tension but don't have a big enough socket to loosen. Are both sides the same size?
@andrewmorris22408 жыл бұрын
good question, I'll check tonight to confirm but I think belt side was 22mm and exhaust side I just used a big shifter
@andrewmorris22408 жыл бұрын
+Jason Yard Yer both sides are 22mm.

Can you tell me where you located a replacement belt? I've been searching every where to find a belt for me v2c 650s

Hi do u know how to actually test the tension on the belt accurately? I don't own a tension gauge
@andrewmorris22408 жыл бұрын
+Jason Yard Well tension guage is best. I don't have one either though, I just worked out what 5kg of weight on my index finger felt like and applied about the same amount of pressure to the belt in the viewing window. If you have 5mm of deflection with the wheel on the ground then you are good otherwise adjust the belt accordingly. When adjusting the belt make sure you move it the same distance on both sides of the axle so it doesn't become misaligned.
@jasonyard99798 жыл бұрын
+Andrew Morris I held up a hammer to the belt with the handle on some scales and applied the 4.5 kilos of pressure and adjusted but that seems really tight! Ordered a gauge to make it easier and accurate, does yours seem tight when u adjust?
@andrewmorris22408 жыл бұрын
Well it's just meant to have that 5mm of deflection, so it is a bit tight. I will be interested to hear if you change it much with a proper gauge.

on the cover for the belt there should be a ovel hole with marks on it to set the tension.

hello, i think its time to change my drive belt, some teeth is tend to lose..its been over 40,000 km already. The service center here said need to change the front and back pulley as well. Together, it costs $650 per set. Did you change your front and back pulley too?
@andrewmorris22406 жыл бұрын
Nah they weren't super worn so I just replaced the belt
@travisj23706 жыл бұрын
how often do you go through belts?
@andrewmorris22406 жыл бұрын
If you clean/adjust every so often you're meant to get about 60k out of one or if you do no maintenance like I did then you get about 30k out of one

5 mm is bad for the tension, too tight. should be around 10 mm with a rear tire on the ground. with 5 mm you'll polish your rear pulley to the point that it will tear your belt. keep in mind. no replacement belts. Nothing aftermarket at all. No second gen front pulleys (out of stock all over the world). So keep your front nut tight on it too (with a 140 nm twist). If you hear a squeaking noise even if your belt is tensioned then it's a nut and the front pulley that is not tight. And yes, the belt will touch the side of the pulleys at a time. It's normal. Use a piece of soap, and rub the touching side of the belt. Some Harley guys are doing so, they are having the same problem.
