With the mark ups these perfume manufacturers make there is no excuse for raising their prices. They are using inflation as an excuse, which is valid for food, but not for perfume! I say we boycott all of these very high price-gouging perfume manufacturers until they bring the prices back down. 😡

Especially if you go to the house directly, they now ship from France for free, and it’s much cheaper. If you go on Canadian sites it’s much less. So I think it’s just price gouging.

I buy most of my fragrances from harrods, UK. I don’t mind paying $42 for shipping when I am buying 2/3 perfumes at once. Way more cheaper and no tax.

Yes please! This was great. One request please, when you say you are going to pass, that you have something to cover that note already, like the mango and peony, maybe you could quickly put up a picture of the ones you have? With some of the crazy price points, it’s nice to see alternatives, even if the alternative is expensive, just so we could maybe try a couple along the same lines. ❤️

Le Parfum is the only Black Opium I own. It’s so good! I really enjoy Good Girl Blush as well, and will add a full bottle at some point. The only other flanker I love from that line is Good Girl Supreme. Soie Malaquais is really unique, but I agree about the price point.

I agree with you regarding Guidance. I immediately blind bought it… thank God I only used the sample because the opening was so harsh. I couldn’t wait to wash it off. I sprayed it on paper and let it dry down which was beautiful. However, if I’m paying that much I must like it from beginning to end… it was sent back. It’s so hyped and I’m thinking “ what am I missing“ sigh

I totally was a Pouty Patty when I found I missed out on Brioche too, I was ready to show them the money (blindly), but a friend decanted approx 1/3 of his bottle to keep for himself and very generously gifted me his bottle 2/3 full. I was freaking out with excitement when i opened the package. I sprayed it ready to be fully in love. Uhhhhh, nope. It was like being a kid and hoping Santa was bringing Barbie, but getting the crossed eyed, knock off doll, “Barbara”, from Big Lots.

All of Tom Ford is a NO to me. TF prices are too high for practically zero longevity. Also, I am not favorably impressed with Stephane Humbert Lucas. At this point with these price hikes a perfume better be extraordonarily spectacular, and even then if it's too ridiculously priced I might just buy a decant or wait for a dupe. What these perfume manufacturers need to notice is that dupes are getting even better, and they are forcing people in that direction with these price hikes.

Hi Chris, I love this type of video, because you express exactly what us viewers are going through, and that makes these videos very helpful. Like you I am not blind buying as much anymore, and am working more with samples and decants. And to be honest, I like how it feels: sitting at my table thinking about which samples I will be testing this week, and then gathering my thoughts, deciding. I just love it; it feels like a science experiment. Also, I got God of Fire for €120. It is an amazing scent and worth the full price, if I had the money for it.

I tried Guidance last evening. Very potent and this comment comes from someone who cannot smell anything and with very dry skin (desert life). I did enjoy it and may wait to get a full bottle but not now. This is my year of no more excessive purchases (so I say!). The potency on my arm lasted for hours, I did not even detect heart notes or sandalwood (I fell asleep as I was sampling late in the day). Nonetheless, I believe it is a unique offering and I like the Parfumeur's name as well.

I said the opening is way too much for me 🤯🤯 but the dry down is just glorious😍😍. God of Fire is just as expensive over here and I cannot afford to buy it at this stage😱😱. For all my people looking for what Angel Elixir should’ve been BUY the black glass glamorama edition. Fragrantica says the notes are the same but it’s not. It’s like regular angel but syrupy and much darker. It feels like a parfum. The Angel extrait is also really good. The downside is they are both hard to find.

I tested Black Opium Parfum and I kept getting wafts of something familiar…it finally struck me! The vanilla reminds me a lot of Micallef Note Vanille, a touch citrus and boozy, not cakey. It’s lovely.

Ysl black opium le perfum is something that just gets better and better the more it sits glad I got it as the others didn't do it for me. I think it will be beautiful for fall winter so I think I will wait till their sale Black Friday. I appreciate how straight forward and honest you are about scents. Do you have favourite rice perfumes? Love your videos, i blind bought Argos pour Femme because you gave it a good review. So to restrain myself, if I smell something I like but is very floral, I can move on because I have a really good floral with great performance. Same with strong fruits because I have Cruz Del Sur II, and creamy caramel-florals because I have Cassiopea. This is how I try to control the growing collection- but I love 724 and Electric Cherry - both kind of evervescent and young and hip. I really listen to you about performance though as you usually report on that as I am tired of spending a lot of $ and no one smells you. Hibiscus Mahajad is next on my list, also because of your recommendation. Great job as always.

Hello Chris, 💚 you look gorgeous in your video. That green shirt and is amazing on you! I really enjoyed your video and hearing your opinion about all of these new releases. You really thought through your experience when you were testing and considering them. I 100% agree with you on price effecting perceived value. It better bring something mind blowing and amazing, if it is being priced with eye watering prices. Knowing that most perfumes are 80% to 90% alcohol and a little bit of aroma chemicals, it puts spending on a fragrance into perspective. 😉That being said we do come across perfumes that wow and they can be in all range of prices. Those TF perfumes need to be 1/3 the price they are retailing for. I think the 100ml of Lost Cherry is now $670.00 CAD. We never see it go on sale here for more that 20% off at a Sephora Sale. No Cosmetics Company stores in Canada. 😔 I agree that it doesn't make sense to keep adding bottles, if you have a perfume you enjoy with a similar scent profile or vibe. We can only use them up so quickly. I would like to sample some of the fragrances on your list. Guidance is still one I would like to try. I am slowing down on sampling fragrances that retail for more than $400.00 CAD. I think the only way to stop the crazy inflation on perfume prices, is to stop purchasing them when they are overpriced. I would happily view more videos like this one. I agree with try before you buy sample sample sample, because there’s a lot of hype and then you get it I want it to smell good from start to end I don’t want to love the top and mid then the dry down is a bust and vice versa, in 2023 I’m not wasting my money on full bottles that I don’t love and have to sell or give away! Hi Chris 😊🌹 Greetings from Zagreb, Croatia! On the subject of pricey fragrances and Tom Ford perfumes…my daughter and I got a chance to smell Black Orchid and Velvet Orchid, and as much as we loved these fragrances, we both agreed that at about $100 for a 30ml bottle, they are very pricey! Plus, she reminded me that we have to buy her a new laptop to replace the one she lost in Barcelona airport 😬 So, of course Tom Ford perfume will wait 😂 Also, I highly recommend Zara Cherry Smoothie as a cherry forward fragrance which is affordable, lovely and has phenomenal longevity. 👌👍😍

Brioche out of pickles and hay 🤣 You crack me up Chris. But an Escada version of a cherry is a great way to describe Electric Cherry! 🍒 I sampled Cherry Smoke yesterday and it was a bit of a disappointment too. Was hoping for a Comme des Garcons level of smoke and got a cheap and flat designer guaiac. Still prefer the original.

hey i was searching videos on soie malaquais dries van noten and found this. i didnt like god of fire was too masculine but i havent smelled it in a year or more. Aw i love guidance it is my favorite perfume of all time! alot going on in it but its amazing and get so many compliments. i wore it to work and people said they smelled me all the way down the other hall lol you are just like me i find goog girl blush to be the prettiest bottle too but i hate the shoe bottle lol im smelled dulche diablo last winter but maybe i would like it next time around.
