Great clip! I filmed this spot in 98' and much of the footage is in ...Lost Across America. A legendary day. It was packed to the bone on that day too. I walked up say hello to one of my heroes, Jeff Divine, who was taking pics in a stealth spot. I commented on how crowded it was and asked if it bothered him, as he had seen it back in the day, prior to the crowds. He calmly said, "It's still the good old days, so enjoy them." That blew my mind at the time and I still try to remember that when I get bummed out on crowds.

Great to hear Jeff is still at em. The great thing about all the big swell everywhere is that so many rare breaks are going off. Don't complain about anything when it's happening, has always been my mantra. Looks a bit like a makeable Californian Ma'alaea. Great footage.

Watch Hobgood in Secret Machine he dismantles epic Salsipuedes. Last time i surfed there and scored was January 18th 2018, absolutely firing just me and a few other sd guys out. Needs size and direction but loves that lower tide. Blacks been kicking my butt lately but i am over 40 now so f it just living the sd dream. Aloha just subscribed sd born and raised.

gnarliest crowd i've ever surfed with, it was just unreal to see some of my favorite surfers out there scoring at the local. that place is so special that even we who are locals check that spot all the time and the conditions are just never propper for it haha. the video is so rad dude i just subscribed the channel, greetings from Rosarito!

I Surfed the 81-82 1st El Niño swell (same day they made the poster). Mind blowing. Super narly. Friend of mine Paul Stanley from Imperial Beach dominated the day. Probably cause he just got in from North shore and was the only one not scared shitless out there. I swear there were square barrels. I was severely under gunned that day. Made it back 2 days later with a 6-8 when it was half the size and felt muuy segura..This spot is for the gods when it’s on.

In 1982 a friend and I drove down to Salsipudes in the middle of the night. We were met with three days of have rain that washed out portions of the road. We scored! Three weeks of consistent surf and several DOH days. There was a Mexican family who kept us fed; in return we spent a couple of hours a day filling ruts in the road. We had it to ourselves!

I like how you go so far out of your way not to name the place considering how crowded it was and how everyone knows its Salsipuedes. I surfed it on a swell like this once. It was huge, we could see Todos breaking from there. Mike Parsons and a big wave crew were out at Todos that day. It stayed turned on all day and never fizzled out. Bombs were swinging around the corner like they were being spit out of a machine, it was insane. Dean Randazzo was scoring the most insane barrels I've ever seen anyone get. I scored around a dozen waves, two of which I can still see in my minds eye they were so good. Glad you scored, it is a magic spot.

Sweet video and awesome surfing! Salispuedes.... Look up the el nino of 1997 to 98. I think it was February 98 Taylor Knox caught the k2 wave. On that same swell how did salispuedes do? Holy bleep

Well done crazy good well done lovely channel Dylan. 30 years ago before the first time access was cutoff, it just wasn't on the radar and a 10 dudes would make us irritated. Different times I guess but 80+ guys like this, is so shocking I suppose I get to claim the old and salty. Noticing the path down the mountain which never existed in reality or it was extremely sketchy as to not worth it, just paddle around the corner from what was a campground.

I checked that place off my list about 16 years ago. Same swell we lost Peter Davi at Ghost Tree. It was a couple of feet bigger than this, and equally crowded. We were the first ones in. I shot footage in the morning, and then paddled out and caught one set wave early afternoon. Called it good and went it.

Troy Eckert's wave @ 3:54+ …. mind blowing. But, he pulled out short. Go to the end in giving respects,… or maybe you respected by only going with the main meal. It would be best to see it in full speed, with a wider scope angle. Close up money shots miss so much of the experience, which can easily and desireably be shown. Btw, Slo Mo is on Mission Beach boardwalk, and there's beer made with that name.
