Hi Steph....I don't normally comment on many videos, but after hearing a little about your story, I can't believe how much I relate! I too, was diagnosed with Grave's Disease about 5 years ago. I had that same long list of things happening to me that didn't seem right. In fact, one day before going to the doctor, I wrote down every symptom I was having. He actually had the nerve to tell me to seek a psychiatrist! I was stunned. I'm not sure about you, but my hair loss and hand tremors were the worst symptoms. My Mom suggested I go to a neurologist because she thought I may have had Parkinson's. I am happy to say that the neurologist is who ended up diagnosing me and saying that my thyroid was beyond high and that I needed an endocrinologist right away. Pretty scary stuff....well after a radiation treatment and eventually switching to a naturopathic doctor, I'm happy to say that my numbers went down dramatically and more often now, I'm usually 'hypo'. After all that hair loss, wigs eventually changed my life too. I enjoy not having to take hours to do my hair and still have it looking like crap. LOL! I want to thank you for your video and sharing with us. I look forward to viewing many of your others. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜

Donna!!! Hello!! ❤️❤️❤️ I was so very happy reading your comment 🥰 You’re the first comment to mention that you too were diagnosed with Graves Disease! I had totally forgotten about the hand tremors… yes, mine was really bad too. I remember it was so hard to even hold a coffee cup, because I would shake the coffee right out of the cup!! Another one of my symptoms, a big one, was my mental state. I didn’t go too much into it in the video…. But I felt crazy at times… like actually thought I was losing my mind. I explained it to my partner at the time that it was like ‘everything was wrong’…. Everything felt wrong… and then I would ask myself, “what exactly is it that’s wrong right now?” And I couldn’t answer it…. It’s such a tough thing to explain. I feel like only someone else who’s been through it will know what I’m talking about. Did you experience this symptom? 💕 so happy we’ve connected!!! I look forward to reading more of your comment XO

@@WigsWithSteph…Thanks for your sweet reply. 💜💜💜 And yes, I definitely felt like I was losing my mind or that my body was being taken over! I was actually so grateful to finally be diagnosed because it validated that I’m not crazy! Lol! But the road to where I am today has been long. As I mentioned earlier, I see a Naturopath now. That changed my life. Instead of being on all that Synthroid that was actually making me sicker, I now take a medication designed specifically for me. It’s made at a special Compounding Pharmacy that includes the stuff geared towards fixing my high and low TSH and T3 numbers. I feel so much better now. I’m no doctor,but if you ever feel like you’re not feeling stable, you should check out a Naturopath. She got my health back to a very manageable place. I go to her every 4 mos. to get my labs checked. But believe it or not, I still lose handfuls of my stringy bio hair. I should probably shave it, but far too scared to take that step, so for now, I just throw up the ugly and put on a very beautiful wig! I’m waiting for my hair mail now….trying out Simmer! I love Raquel Welch wigs! Hope you have a great nite! Keep putting out great content….I look forward to it. Sorry for the chatty long msg! Lol! 😊

@@donnavilhauer9014 Hi Donna! Don't ever be sorry for a long, chatty message! This is why I'm on KZbin- to connect with like-minded people like yourself ☺ Thank you for being so open and honest and sharing your story. I know that you will have touched the hearts of so many on here who will also read your comment. I know you've touched my heart. I also see a Naturopath and we found that I was severely deficient of Vit D. Now I get Vit D shots. That's what actually allowed me to go into remission and not have to get rid of my thyroid. I feel so balanced now, THANK GOODNESS, because it took me 6 years of being on medication for hyperthyroid to get to this point. I am so grateful to finally not have to be on meds and feel like a person again. Although, I too still have the stringy, thin hair, that falls out. I have heard that about the synthetic thyroid, that often times people don't feel great on it. I love your story and that you were able to see a Naturopath and figure out a way to remain balanced, while not having to take exactly what the doctors were initially telling you to take. I hope others see this comment from you because I think it would be very helpful! I feel the same as you do... Wigs are the best. I will never go back to wearing my own hair because trying to get it to look some-what decent is a waste of my time... it's just not manageable. LOL. Thank goodness for wigs!!! 💜💖💛❤

I have experienced major hair loss for decades via Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis/Hypothyroidism. One cannot emphasis enough the important ramifications of thyroid autoimmune diseases and their impact on hair loss. I do have many lovely wigs and use them often although I can still (barely) get by without them with my very short, white hair plus scalp cover-up powder. Thank you for sharing your story and raising both awareness and confidence!

Thank you so much for this video and for showing up in such an honest way. I was diagnosed with Graves' disease and hyperthyroid symptoms 3 years and a half ago and as you said, not many people talk about it. There are not many resources out there on how to recover naturally, just hypothyroidism. I'm having eye disease as well and when you talked about how you felt about your eyes, I totally related and felt relieved. Whenever I speak up about how I feel about it, people say that I'm exaggerating, that's not a big deal. And people don't realize that it is not only esthetically unpleasant, it is also a matter of health: constant dryness, pain, photosensitivity and, in my case double vision. So, thank you! May I ask you what really helped you with your eyes? Sometimes I feel really hopeless, I have tried everything in the last years but it seems that nothing is working and doctors are pushing me to remove my thyroid. Thanks for your time!

My first emotion is disappointment because I am so scared that my beautiful thick curly hair is gone for good! Thank you though for putting out this content so I have realistic expectations. My graves is also in remission but the hair loss is still extraordinary. My vit d was super low so I thought that was also contributing but been taking that and still experiencing hair loss. Thanks for sharing your story. My sister has graves disease, she's 9 years older than me. I have had hypothyroidism since I was 35 and developed multiple sclerosis about the same time but wasn't diagnosed for 15 more years! The fatigue from both have taken so much of my ability to live!! Within the past 10 years I have lost my eyebrows and so much of my hair! I am 67 now and really want to wear a wig! My hair is dry and brittle along with my nails. All I want is a straight Bob similar to my hair color. I don't have grey yet so it's blond with highlights. It needs to be reasonably priced. I am on disability with no help. Any suggestions?

I’ll meet with my oncologist and surgeon again on the 21st to discuss my chemo treatments. My doctor already told me I will loose my hair. My question is where to go to find this beautiful wig you have on in this video? I’m in the USA and I don’t know of any wig shops around me. Thank you for sharing your story. Similar to you, I have a health condition that causes hairloss and it has been a journey for me as well. I wanted to ask about the wig you have on now: with it being a heat friendly synthetic, and also being a long, straight style, have you experienced it knotting up more than with a wavy or curly shorter style? I would love to get that wig, but I am concerned that it will tangle easily. Also, I would love for you to do more videos on how you heat style your wigs. Specifically, on how you heat style this wig.
@WigsWithSteph
@WigsWithSteph Жыл бұрын
Hi Jenna!! This is an excellent question. I have both long styles and short styles in heat friendly wigs and non heat friendly wigs. Speaking just of longer wigs in general, yes they do tangle more easily. In my opinion it doesn’t have to do with it being heat friendly or just a regular synthetic, because I find just longer wigs in general will tangle more easily. So yes, that is true. In the summertime, if I were to wear a tank top for example, she doesn’t tangle as much as if I’m wearing a sweater or full shirt. Wigs tangle due to friction and rubbing against clothes, so it very much depends on when you think you’d be wearing it. In the wintertime, for example, I tend to wear shorter synthetics, or longer human hair wigs, allowing myself to avoid terrible tangles. In the summertime, because of what I wear (wearing less, LOL), I can get away with both long and short styles. 😊 Even with the added effort to keep her looking nice, she has been SO worth it in my opinion. She’s so light, and even when she’s tangly, she still looks beautiful. She’s one of my husbands favourites too!!

I have had my bloods taken on Thursday for my thyriod and i am so so anxious for Wednesday incase i do/don’t have it, the reason I’m afraid incase i DONT have it is because i’m not sure what else would possibly be wrong with me, my anxiety has been terrible and its making me depressed and miserable but yet i do not suffer from anxiety or depression, i definitely feel it’s something deeper than that, this anxiety is not only affecting me but also my relationships as i am constantly causing issues and problems because of these anxietys, i have physical weakness, loss of appetite, constant sweating and i feel my hormones have been put completely out of place, i feel like a completely different person, i’ve lost interest in things i used too love such as painting, video games and animating which is concerning as that is my job, i want to ask for some advice, how did you cope with thyroid anxiety? I want to know so i can do that to cope until my results on Wednesday as i am struggling EXTREMELY BADLY. And i also wanted to talk and see if you had any of my specific symptoms, did you lose interest in hobbies and stuff like that? (Obviously i have much more symptoms than the ones i just mentioned but these are the specific ones i see nobody talk about)

Thanks for sharing your story! I had thin hair my entire life from Hashimotos but then I got Alopecia Universalis, so I have no hair at all. I've been wearing wigs for 12 years. I am embarrassed that people can see the tracks from the wefts so clearly against my pale scalp. I haven't tried a lace front in years since I'm so intimidated by cutting the lace so I keep buying ones with bangs, but I feel very out of style. Do you have any videos on how to deal with the lace, I couldn't find one, maybe you could make one in the future? Thank you!

Not gonna lie, most websites at this point that ive seen have both pre-cut and glueless lace. The only thing with the lace is that after a couple of years some of the hairs fall out and you'll have to either put new ones in (similar to hand-sewing if youve done that, but smaller) or replace the lace front with a similar one, such as one of the units on hairvivi where the wig is $300 CAD and the hairline replacement part is $100. cutting the lace isn't that bad, its actually the plucking of the hairline that takes a lot of time and is easy to screw up, but again most places do that before shipping it to you.

Hi! New sub here. You’re gorgeous and your wigs look natural to you. I could relate to what people tell you being skinny. Btw, if you go to Asia;East Asia- Southeast Asia… You’re won’t be referred to as skinny. Just normal. 😊

Hi Steph, I just found out a couple of weeks ago, I have hyper too and lost a lot of weight!? Familiar comments from family and friends....how did you recover from that and not have to take meds..... please advise, ty

Hello 💕 I had to take meds for about 6 years before my my hyperthyroid would go into remission. (Meaning, function on its own without meds). I focused on lowering my stress, working out, going for walks, and eating well. I also started getting Vit D shots after finding out I was severely deficient. I don’t think it was just one thing in particular I did that helped me go into remission, but a combination of everything. I believe the body is connected to everything. I now think of food as fuel and try to only eat things that I know are good for me (limiting sugars) and really try to live a stress-free life!! (As best I can- sometimes it’s not easy because life… is life… and can be stressful). But I’ve pulled myself out of stressful situations and environments on purpose to protect myself. I always felt my hyperthyroidism and Graves’ disease flare up when I became really stressed

I never comment someone body because i have thyroid problem..even if they are fatter or skinnier we don't know what they are going through... I always was normal but call they called me chubby,but when i got skinnier they called me sick !! That's more difficult because they are assuming that if you are losing weight you are so sick and unhealthy that you are about to die !! 😂😮😢 Neither comments help either...

Wow, can't believe in this day and age that you went undiagnosed for so long. So unfortunate! My mom had Graves disease in the 70's. No exophthalmus though. She did have iodine therapy and was on meds for hypothyroid after. It's sad physicians still don't listen to women and try to blame real health concerns on mental health issues. I am retired from the medical field and specialized in cardiology. A lot of women's heart issues were blamed on nerves, anxiety and mental health issues. I'm glad you got dx. BTW, I'm originally from Peterborough, Ontario, but have lived many years in the states for work. I found your channel when researching alternative hair for ?? post menopausal hair thinning. I have 5 wigs. They can be addicting. I've started to notice some new hair growth with the change of my blood pressure pill, spironolactone. Didn't realize it helped with hair loss. Thanks for the inspiration.

Actually, Graves’ disease is not cured. It is something you always have. It’s the symptoms you control and then it lies dormant, but can always flare up with its symptoms. Hyperthyroid was a symptom I had from my Graves Disease
