In this video I test the Hyper Tough brushless cut off tool (model 80007). I compare to the Bauer 2269C-B cut off tool and the Hercules HD67B cut off tool.

I use my hercules cut off tool w/4ah battery and a multimaterial blade when I'm cutting vinyl fences and LVP flooring, then switch to a diamond disc for fiber cement flooring. The 4ah hercules batteries can be found for as little as $24.99 when on sale, always buy from HF when there's a sale.

I'm not gonna lie, I made an impulsive buy with the Hyper Tough 12V Brushless impact driver. And I literally love the thing. In fact I love it so much I bought a second one. I even use it on job sites and have used it to drive 12" GRK screws into foundations and 6×6 posts and stuff and it's driven them all so far. Which I'm pretty confident is a much more demanding task than they were intended to be used for. Driving standard deck screws or 3⅛" structural screws is nothing for it and it sends them home nice and quickly without any but stripping or slipping in the screw heads like you experience with a regular drill driver. I grab the Hyper Tough over my DeWalt and Bosch drills every time now. And I love that the little side clip grips nicely to my pocket opening on my jeans and the tool is perfectly balanced and stays clipped even when swinging my legs far climbing scaffolding and stuff. I haven't had as good of luck with the 12V rotary tool however. Which is a bummer. The 1st one I bought was very easy to overload when using it causing the tool to shut down during use. On the 3rd day I was using it I overloaded it again and it never turned back on again after that. So I did buy a 2nd one that I'm being much more gentle with than the 1st to hopefully get more use from it. I like the cordless portability of it and the ability to swap batteries unlike my cordless Dremel that you can only plug in and recharge when it's dead. My Dremel has a lot more torque and has never overloaded or shut down on me though. Sooner or later I'll invest in a premium battery powered Dremel tool that has swappable batteries. The Hyper Tough is far cheaper than those guys are though. Even with the purchase of an extra battery or 2 and I already bought a quick charger. I recently purchased the 12V sawzall from Hyper Tough as well as the cutoff tool in the video too. And I have the long reach 12V ratchet wrench I have yet to really put to good use. It's hard to pass them up at the price they sell for. They seem to be pretty good overall. The impact is by far my favorite though. No need to invest in a Milwaukee or DeWalt or any other premium brand when you can get one that good for under $50 with a battery and charger included. I'd definitely recommend the impact. But I'd advise some caution when buying the 12V rotary tool. If you get one you really need to be extra soft and gentle when running it. Don't put any pressure on the big or cutting wheel or you'll very easily overload and possibly kill the tool for good. At the very least you'll be plagued with annoying shit downs and having to switch it off and back on again often. There's my 2 cents. Coming from a professional contractor of over 15 years now who regularly uses and owns several premium brand tools to base some comparison on. The average DIYer or homeowner would be just fine with the Hyper Tough line based on my own experience so far

I guess testing with the cheapest cut off wheels is more realistic but not really an even match up to compare the warrior wheels to a hercules recip saw blade. For testing purposes, the best quality cut off wheel should be used to reduce the amount of variables though. like when you showed the chipped wheel it tells more about the quality of the wheel than the tool

Nice review Zack. Do you think the threaded rod is sometimes getting slightly work hardened from the heat, affecting some of the cut times ? Maybe a fan or a wet rag wrapped below the cut would help.

Alot of brands offer the premium batteries now, Ryobi was actually one of the first with the HP batteries and brushless tools then offering HP tools aswell. Ridgid had octane for hot minute but then changed it up, Milwaukee is a mess with with HO, high demand, red lithium, heavy duty, etc. Dewalt did the best, IMO with FLEX volt.

Very interested to see more HT 12v tools. Seems like Walmart (or at least their Chinese manufacturer, Techway I believe) has gotten serious about releasing a line of quality 12v tools. Back when they launched their 12v ratchets, I dismissed them out of hand, but I kept hearing they were good so I picked up the extended-reach 12v ratchet for $60. That was a bit over half of what even Amazon brands were charging for similar products, with little or no warranty. Was very surprised when I opened it and it felt better built than my brushed Milwaukee ratchet. Picked up the brushed drill/flashlight combo kit for the batteries, but the drill is super comfortable and way more capable than I expected. Certainly not for professional use, but it drove some lag bolts for a TV mount into wall studs (albeit not very happily). I wasn't expecting it to work! As far as the charger goes, it makes sense to me. Walmart is targeting homeowners and other DIYers who likely only use their tools once in a while, so extended charging times are less of an issue and the cheap chargers keep unit prices very low.

@@HVACShopTalk I fully believe there is an untapped audience for content on budget priced tools. The market is completely saturated with Milwaukee, Dewalt, and Makita fanboys however a large percentage of the population doesn't have the disposable income or the need to justify such an expensive tool for occasional use doing home repairs or projects. Keep up the good work and don't get discouraged.
