My first exposure to the series was at my godparents house, they had a ps2 and this game. My brother picked Nightmare and me Raphael and thus our rivalry begun. While we only played SC2 once, we soon got SC3 for our own, though most of our playtime together was with SC4.

One master gameplay trick i learned is to combo through stance change on Knightmare. It speeds him up and makes his damage much greater.

It's the same as SC4 second player sword. Also the same night-terror uses. And I think it's awesome it truly embodies malicious intentions.

He was by far my favorite nightmare, but then 3 came out, and totally screwed up my game play since his move set was divided between him and seigfried lol

I felt that ending could have gone with the canon route as after Nightmare was about to kill Raphael, he froze as Siegfried fought a mental battle to regain control of his body. This allowed Raphael to stab the eye of Soul Edge and finally freed Siegfried from the Azure Armor. Suddenly, Soul Calibur appeared in the form of a Zweihander. He picked up the sword and stabbed the Eye of Soul Edge which created Soul Embrace,

YEP! Loved Nightmare and Cassandra back in the day (and of course as a LoZ fan Link) but fell in love with Taki later on. Also always preferred this Nightmare, the fusion moveset of both Nightmare and Seigfred, thats why i always was sad to see them split apart in later games. Narratively im happy for Seigfred, good for him. But god damn was he the perfect wielder for that sword!

It's so blunt though. There's barely anything resembling an edge (...ironically), so how's it gonna cut anything? Also personally, I think it just looks like a giant steak with a bunch of low-res eyeballs. 😅 Give me Growth _any_ day, or even that weird 2nd outfit one.

Agreed, best Nightmare by far. Wasn't a big fan of Nightmare's moveset after they split him from Siegfried, feels like Siggy got most of the best moves but none of the... how to put it? Flair. Plus, beautiful design and Ted D'Agostino's unbeatable performance.

I would honestly counter that and say that Nightmare from SC3 is the best nightmare but only because i played him a lot and his sword Soul Edge is probably the most broken weapon in the game with amount of endurance with it able to leech life and the longer your alive the more damage it do, i dunno maybe i should play SC2 Nightmare and see what he's all about cause like that damage up over time and the fact that you can leech hp is probably one of the most massive game changers in SC3 it changes your style completely because of it.
