Nice. I once used my Printrbot Simple Metal to control my smartphone. I printed a holder for a capacitive touchscreen pen, and I created a browser-based interface to translate my mouse actions into gcode, which was dynamically sent to the printer via the Octoprint API. Fun little project.
@mhelvens7 жыл бұрын
It occurs to me that might be a fun addition to your pen-on-paper setup, too. You could use the mouse to draw shapes on-screen, and the Hypercube could mimic you on paper as you draw. (Freehand, of course, but you'd also have a circle tool and straight-line tool.) _Edit:_ @Tech2C: If you're actually interested in trying this, let me know, and I'd be happy to write the code. I already did the research, and it shouldn't take a lot of time.

What you could add as another upgrade would be a drag knife holder, with that you can cut out stickers out of vinyl sheets e.g. orafol. The MPCNC has that feature too if you want to look it up ;)

Nice project. Thank you! To select all lines is quite a pain. However, you can select the whole sketch in the browser. It is much more easy... You just need to click on the sketch, and not on the line, when you select. I hope, it can help for everyone.

Absolutely the way to go, then you can deselect the lines you don't want to print.

@goldbunny19737 жыл бұрын
The only thing I would add is that Im surprised you havent yet adapted the mounts to HotSwop Quick Release Mechanism such as is used on tripods. This is what I hope to develop for my Hypercube so there's not a load of screwing/unscrewing going on each time I want to swop in a new printhead. The combination of a Quick Release with side wall limitation to eliminate unwanted movement, & inset magnets on the mount and the rear of each hotswop head should keep everything solidly in place. No more screwdriver.

I love your work, and clear presentation style videos. I just bought a Tronxy X3A and am already thinking of dismantling it a converting it to a Hypercube cos at least then it will print! : ) I wonder if you could use photo software to extract layers of colour then use different pens to lay down the image in layers including metallic inks to create highlights? Oh God, I see another creative idea Project coming on....

Hi, i am using a inkscape plugin to create my g code. This works also fine for me. What workflow do you have to create these awesome minimalistic svg drawings? I would love to create simmelar drawings from pictures :)
@Tech2C7 жыл бұрын
My work flow for svg drawings? Google images :) I use inkscape to convert raster files to vector, and then save as SVG, but it's never exactly perfect. I'll use inkscape for laser engraving photos too.

I have been experimenting with something similar, but there is one thing I have not been able to figure out; how do you respond to the person who says "That's very interesting, but why did you not just click "Print", and send it to your inkjet (or laser) printer?" :o)

Would you be able to actually print a photograph with this? Maybe turn the picture to only b&w, divide it into a grid and have to pen pass through the black squares in the grid?
@brandtleymcminn7 жыл бұрын
Inkjet style printers already do a similar process to this, except on a much finer scale. The comic book style dot color you're probably familiar with was a cheap way to get multi color prints going for illustration medium like that, but even today, we still use it in news print as a cheap way to lower printing costs by using less ink to create the perception of shading/color blending. You could do this same thing by as you said, taking a raster image, mapping the black density gradients, and using a fine tip pen, draw various sized circles to represent the image. The tricky part is I'm not aware of a utility for doing the gradient mapping, but custom plugins for fusion could potentially solve this hiccup.
