Yeah... Good thing they changed it in RB1. I don't really like how "killing the goddess to destroy their nation to benefit ours" is seen by Yvoire as the right way, compared to "killing the not-goddess messenger of something evil to save the world". At least in the latter, it sounded more reasonable.

No, I don't agree. The Basilicoms aren't just Churches and caretakers of the goddesses, but their head bishops also govern and make all political decisions for their entire nation. Leanbox's Archbishop is an obvious analog to the real-world Catholic Church and their historic underhanded tactics including assassinations to ethnically cleanse other lands, spread their influence, and further their agenda. The change in Re;Birth 1 makes Yvoire into an innocent who was duped by Arfoire, rather than a ruthless political-religious leader with ambitions to spread his influence. I can understand why the change was made - Neptunia is a lighthearted series filled with funny references - but I do think that the original game tackling the evils of organized religion so directly is one of the game's greatest strengths. The only other game I can think of that deals with how awful organized religion can be is Tales of the Abyss.

Satoshi Matrix people love to harp on about that when it comes to the catholic church. Yes we were like that and thank goodness we got a good smack in the face. Now can people move on and see us for who we are today? Not the ghost from 1000 years ago.

Satoshi Matrix yeah I think that's what the original did better. Honestly I feel rebirth lacked in the explanation department and left far too much to the imagination which depending on the player you're mileage will vary. This is not always a good thing as it leaves too many potholes and unexplained details.
