This is without exaggeration one of the best trailers for a blockbuster I’ve ever scene. The music is brilliant, it tells a whole story all its own, it sells the action and destruction as a thing of unironic *beauty.* It’s awe inspiring.

Also, apparently, King Ghidorah is so HUGE that his wings causes tornadoes and hurricanes, so along with his gravity electric beams, he's a walking, flying electric storm, fitting for Godzilla's archenemy..... A "living extinction event."

I sort of see the titans in almost a lovecraftian light. Where titans like Rodan and especially Ghidorah see us as mear insects, Mothra as some sort of sympathy for the small and short-lived creatures called humans. And thats what makes Mothra different. Gojira is sorr of on the fence, doesnt squash the little ones willy nilly but doesnt exactly pay attention to them either. He's more concerned asserting dominance over the other titans.

This is easily the top reaction to this movie trailer for me. Not only they paid attention to it and enjoyed it, but they are actually knowledgeable of the Godzilla lore. Majority of the reactions are like "I have seen Godzilla long ago and the monsters are familiar, but I don't know any of their names." or "Godzilla never had any messages or any deep meanings in his story so this is new." Worst offender is "I am not sure if I am going to see this. Seems too unrealistic." Yeah because Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Harry Potter, etc. are all so much more believable. Great reaction guys! Consider me subscribed!

I was pretty down on the first installment in the newer Godzilla franchise (US), but....my god, did this trailer do something to me. Of course I was excited to see all my favorite monsters from the Godzilla universe, but beyond that, I was WAY more excited that this installment seems to be bringing back Godzilla to being "about" something, like the original. Add in some Lovecraftian flavor with the talk of "rightful rulers of the Earth" and I am ready to shell out some money for this.

@justarandomveryintelligent89346 жыл бұрын
Johnny 2 Cellos I thought godzilla 2014 was really great as a reintroduction of godzilla. In the very first film in the 1954 Godzilla was hardly shown and it was about humanity dealing with it. If you're starting the series from scratch that's where you want to start. Ease people into it with limited monster time and get people to care about your human characters and then when you've hooked people with that film turn around and make your monster fest
@jmsmys13ify6 жыл бұрын
just a random very intelligent sir. Most don't seem to know that Godzilla doesn't appear much in Godzilla movies. The film with the longest appearance of Godzilla is actually Godzilla vs. Hedorah/The Smog Monster. They say, "It needs to focus on the Kaiju," when really, Godzilla hardly ever gets above 15-30 minutes of screentime in his own films.
@jmsmys13ify6 жыл бұрын
John6yt I agree. That was poorly done. The teasing was horrible, and I say this even though I enjoy the movie. I still watch it every once in a while. That Hawaii scene could've at least used a 5 minute battle. But I was only pointing out that Godzilla movies themselves do not have much Godzilla in them at times. Granted, they never abruptly cut away from the start of a battle either.
@justarandomveryintelligent89346 жыл бұрын
Twenty x Twenty I kinda disagree because I think that was done for people who had no experience with godzilla. Me I had very little experience with it and I enjoyed the tease because I appreciated the final battle more because of it

I am ancient by internet standards, so my first deep dive into Godzilla was the late night movie on Saturday night, way back when there were only 3 channels on all our televisions, and that movie was the network television debut of Godzilla vs Megalon. My father and I never bonded over movies or TV due to our polar opposite views on media, but one of those rare moments we did love the same thing was Godzilla. He popped a massive bowl of popcorn and fought with my mother for me to be able to watch Godzilla that faithful Saturday night. We stayed up into the wee hours watching that movie and my hard ass, stoic father laughed and cheered as we watched Godzilla beat up the bad monsters that night. Great memories... It was the very early 70's and the Saturday night late movie was a very BIG DEAL then. My absolute favorite Godzilla films have to be Godzilla 1954 version, Godzilla 1985, and Godzilla 2014. I dearly love all the Godzilla movies, but those 3 are my favorites for sure... I've loved Godzilla since 1974 onwards. And, I'm over 50 years old. Lol........

The original was my favorite. Such a fantastic movie. Got some issues I want to point out. 1. Zilla came out in 98. The movie that came out in 2001 was "Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All Out Attack". 2. After the original there was 27 movies. Edwards was the 29:th. 3. They all had at least 25-30 minutes of human driven plot before they got to the "point". So I have no idea what you were talking about when saying "direct to the point". 4. Mothra was declared female already in 64, at least. Not the 70:s. This trailer looks awesome, and I believe this could be the highlight of next year.

Don't forget the Godzilla-Rama of the 90s that TNT did. They played the Godzilla vs The Thing, Rodan, Godzilla vs Monster Zero, Godzilla's Revenge, Godzilla vs Gigan, and Terror of Mechagodzilla along with select episodes the Hanna-Barbara cartoons :) Back when Godzilla got the MTV Lifetime Achievement Award and none of the 90s movies had yet to officially grace the States. As for 1998... *sigh* It was an okay kaiju movie... BUT I am glad the monster met its ultimate fate in 2004. But as a G-Nerd, I can't help but play a Showa Godzilla roar at the end of Wallflower's version of "Heroes" when I am at work. As for Mr. Chipman's comment on Mothra being female, he is absolutely correct but it started I believe in 1964s Mothra vs Godzilla. The only time I believe Mothra was male was Ghidorah: The Three-Headed Monster and the "Rebirth of Mothra" series which Toho did after they "killed" Godzilla, but I do have to disagree with the Pacific Rim scale comment. I feel the first PR movie capitalized on the scale of the Jaegers and Kaiju but greatly dropped the ball in that department for its sequel. I first came across Godzilla back in 85/86 when I was a 3 year old with either Godzilla: 1985 or Godzilla vs Megalon. I was actually afraid of him until my mother asked me the question she regrets to this very day... "What dinosaur does he look like?" Because what little boy doesn't love dinosaurs? From that moment on, I've been a G-Fan. In fact, I was at work busy breaking down the shipment we received that day when a coworker found me saying "Julius, its an emergency!" I bit and said okay, what is? He then said, "The Godzilla trailer just dropped!" I was chomping at the bit to go to lunch and watch it, which made me want to cry when I first saw it. And it wouldn't be an exaggeration if I said I've seen this trailer over 50 times now, but I love it. It makes me want to cry tears of joy and gives me goosebumps whenever I talk about it with co-workers. My only issue with it is, I want to know that that black object in the sky is when Rodan is emerging from the volcano. One thing I do love is the aftermath shot of what looks like the San Francisco battle, which is rarely touched on in the near 85 years of Kaiju movies starting with the original King Kong, but it also gives me a sense of hope that the upcoming movie talks about the effects of the rampages of 2014. As in economic, environmental, geopolitical, and most of all the human toll in which made movies like 1954, 1985, and 2016 such standing favorites amongst the diehards.. As for my top 7 movies out of the current 33 titled movies (including 1998 -ranked 33rd, and the anime) Godzilla 1985, Gojira, Shin-Godzilla, Godzilla 2014, Final Wars, Godzilla vs Megalon, Destroy All Monsters
@djdavejordan64986 жыл бұрын
I think people miss the point that the previous Godzilla movie had to get people to buy into the look of Godzilla. Very similar to what had to be done with the first Iron Man. Not to mention, the 2014 Godzilla movie was not made with the thoughts of a monster universe at that time. That concept came into play with the idea of doing a King Kong movie.

Rodan is fire, Mothra is water, Ghidorah is wind....and Godzilla is earth. Theories say Godzilla and Mothra are going to be allies against Rodan and Ghidorah. We'll see...!

Trailer was dope! Can’t wait but it seems to be that it could be duking it out with Avengers 4 in the same month. Plus bless Malika 😂

juan santos Twist Godzilla is helping the humans like he did in 2014.

Godzilla didn't help humans, he didn't even care about us, he there just to protect Earth's Balance... since if MUTOs children hatch and it would be catastrophe for Earth... Godzilla think Humans like an ants in his backyard...

I think people may be misreading the "we are at fault" line. I think that "man" sets Gidorah loose and Gidorah lays waste to the earth. That's why they need the Titans. Could be wrong of course. Plus am I the only one who sees 2 Rodans by the volcano? One up close and the other already in fight? That would be an awesome callback to the original Rodan movie that did have 2.

Holy crap they’re not even close to right about the last movie. The build up is what gives Godzilla a sense of awe and scale.

Favorite Godzilla movies: G VS Biollante, G VS Mechagodzilla and Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S., Godzilla VS Destroyah, Godzilla 1984 (Raymond Burr's monologue at the end when Godzilla falls into the volcano is somber and poignant), Gojira (original Japanese), Godzilla Mothra Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All Out Attack, Son of Godzilla. I really want Serizawa to call them the Sacred Beasts of Yamato as a reference to Tokyo S.O.S. And I hope they throw in the Infant Island/Mothra theme.

I had to wait for the rare moments in the year when one of the four channels (usually Fox before it became FOX) when they would show a Godzilla movie. My favorites probably remain "Monster Zero" and "Godzilla vs. The Thing."

I wonder if they're going to have a version of Mothra's twin fairies? If they're faithful, they should be in this in some incarnation....the fairies' song was one of the best part of the entire anthology of Godzilla films-that and summoning of King Ceasar. haha. This is making me looking forward to seeing it in the theaters, though, I wish they had slowly introduced all the familiar monsters to the the general audience. Glad you guys brought up the Twins...true fans you are! Yeah, I hope they bring up the weirder aspects of the Godzilla movies haha.

Wasn't intended to be """cute""", sorry. it was intended to instill a sense of majesty and awe, which it did. Me not being a girl, I got what they were trying to do. It was stunning, beautiful, and I can't wait to see it!
