HYPERVOLTAIC CHRONICLES - Animation shot breakdown

In the peak action scene from Hypervoltaic Chronicles, we see the characters take on a dirty great big mutant rat.
The challenge of creating this scene was transitioning from a 3D environment to a 2D painted environment. We solved this using the character to bait-and-switch out the backgrounds. So, when the character skids into the camera, that's the moment we go from a 3d environment to a painted environment. The result is a seamless transition.
It was a tricky sequence, but thanks to our incredible team we were able to pull it off.
