The camera turning around the character as they run; the sync on dodging over, under and through obstacles; the rapid yet carefully placed layering of multiple cut-ins; both main character's emotional reflections being framed in various items; the incredible and seemless zoom from character to camera lens as that doorknob is thrown; the change from fully coloured to unstable linework and back into a fully coloured BAM frame _my GOD!!_ And yet it's this simple moment at 1:38 that gets me. Run Cycle > Camera Rotation > Split Screen Focus of Face and Feet > Breaking through the Split Screen on the Turn _while Syncing with the Music_ AND the Character Overlaps The Cinematic Border in a way that's dramatic, visually pleasing and an indication of a symbolic turning point in the character's mindset/intentions!!! Holy shit!!

I literally want to be an animator for that reason but I don't know where to start and I don't know if I should get stuff like an apple pen and use a tablet or what animation apps I use or editing app, I'm still young but I want to make my own animated series when I'm older and I don't know where to start, and flip a clip isn't helping much since I only have it on my phone an I don't have a tablet

@@Omniverted Maybe you can try animating on paper and then scanning it in - that's how Miyazaki did it - though I suggest you get a display tablet if you can, maybe something cheap for starting. I use a veikk for example, it's cheap and gets the job done. For apps I use krita but I heard firealpaca and opentoonz are great. I'm also young and just started and I dont know much but I hope this helps.

Sad-ist animation power will never cease to amaze me flawlessly moving the camera to match the characters movements, the yellow that sticks out among the rest of the setting's cold blues JESUS CHRIST , the clip where everything effortlessly transitions from sketchy lineart to Sadist iconic perfect lineart, how he learns from his first attempt and breaks the cameras, and may I say, the 5 point perspective on the yellow screens? the way yellow is in an area that mainly uses hard black and yellow, as opposed to blue's more blue dominant palette, making yellow's scenes look harsher! and how red only shows up when blue is injured, or when the pocket watch is damaged! it's so cool!! and that's just in the color! i actually watched parts of the animation frame by frame and like, the way the scribbley color outlines are consistent throughout the animation is so cool! this animation is so eye candy, i wanna eat it. (edit: changed the names as i think, since this is labelled as original and the second video deviates so much from the inspiration's canon, the characters ought to be acknowledged outside of their inspiration unless SAD-ist decides for sure that it's an au. just gonna use their dominating color as their names for now)

Now that I've played The Stanely Parable your work is 10x MORE IMPRESSIVE JESUS CHRIST. Going from THAT.....to designing BOTH characters..... to the creativity of having Stanely actually try to escape..... to the storyboarding of the fight scenes and just making the story in general....... and then, of course, your animation is phenomenal. On the first (like 20) watches I appreciated your animation, but now I'm starting to realize just how much of a creative process this whole thing was, every little part of it, it's actually insane. Like, the amount of time you must have put in to this. It's so much more incredible and intricate than I ever thought. Like, you didn't just find a game you liked and animated it, you did so much more than that. Thank you.

I didn't know anyone else had seen or heard of Vector. Also, this is VERY original and unique. The animation is almost in sync with the music, either that or it's the music just driving the animation further. It's hard to tell. But this is the perfect example of non-verbal storytelling, using not just the setting and the characters but how the characters interact with each other and we can actually tell what their goals are without saying anything. (Spoiler alert: I might make a video essay on this soon)
