I've trained with Karl before. In one instance, I was the subject of a demonstration by his partner. Karl walked up to me while I had my hand out, and pushed it down (a "shock" induction), while ordering "sleep". I literally just turned my head and looked at him, slightly puzzled. It did nothing. So even with a willing subject, in a hypnotic context, it doesn't work.

You cannot do or be forced to do anything you don't want to. Hypnotherapists are ethical, extremely skills, and our only intent is to help you get out of your own way to become the better version of yourself. Without a pretalk, preamble or explanation of how to get you to feel safe, heard and understood, we dont take anyone where they dont truly want to go. Its a safe, relaxing process of unblocking whats in the way. If you were to try it, make sure you find someone who has trained in neo-ericksonian or permissive hypnotherapy. Theres many who use scripts, and if that's the case, avoid them, because they're just reading. Real skilled Hypnotherapists listen to your specific needs, story, use metaphors, open needed questions, match and mirror how you're feeling and truly guide you through a proper healing path. All the movie crap in this video doesn't help people be better and is manipulative. Maybe except the office space guy, but he stopped midway from the heart attack.

My mom is a hypnotherapist too. Self harm? Yes, I’ve seen it! One time she was practicing Past Life Regression on my dad and at one point on the end of life phase my dad started to choke himself, both me and my mom had to stop him before my mom was able to bring him back. I do have a question though, I know from her that you can’t hypnotise someone and make them say or do something if it goes against their believes, just like he said. But then how can hypnosis be used as a modus operandi by pick pockets? It happened a lot a few years back in Indonesia that it made it into the news. It happened to my friend from college one time that she lost all the money on her at the time and her cellphone as well.
@khurgar81203 жыл бұрын
Pickpockets probably use it so that you dont focus on what they do. The entire video was basically him saying that hypnotism is about focus. If they can get you to focus on your left hand they can put their right hand straight down your pocket without you knowing. That would be my assumption.

They put you into a state of panic making you believe that you don't have time to think of decisions which makes you just agree on whatever they suggest. Class of 32 people and 3 of us looked around the room at the exact same time. :) Which can be another example of how every word you say can have an impact on the session, as well. Isn't it merely the power of suggestion along with a willing subject, where you start with small favors and slowly ramp it up to a point the subject is incapable of refusing. Meaning a unwilling subject that doesn't allow you a single insignificant foot/favor in the door is impossible to hypnotize, of course their are visible and invisible state of willingness, for example: choosing to participate in a live hypnotism is a example of a visible state of willingness where your aware of the stakes and still decide to participate..... On the other hand, being a employee and your boss asking things outside of the agreed terms can be considered a invisible state of hypnotism where social dynamics, heirarchy and rules hold power over you.
@DaveKatague3 жыл бұрын
Not exactly, what you're referring to at the top is called a yes set, and that's done whilst completely awake. All hypnotherapy is for is helping people get out of their own way by unblocking the unresolved crap we've developed in our subconscious over time. Even this video is perpetuating some false perceptions of it being used for ill intent. Hypnotherapy is to help people, hypnosis is the stage and gimmicky stuff.
@DaveKatague3 жыл бұрын
I was extremely sceptical at first until for a year I saw my mentor who has has 15 years of clinical experience help someone who was doing 30 cigarettes a day, drop down to three. We watched the sessions and saw the entire process and it makes sense, theres so many techniques involved that aren't tricks but instead ways to create obfuscation points in peoples understanding, eg, using language like "if you could do it, what would you think then? What would you rather be thinking instead? What is the deeper intent behind these negative thoughts, thats actually positive?" Hypnotherapy is only a tool, that gets people into a state of more susceptibility, but once they're there, you can then use cognitive behavioural therapy and strategic psychotherapy to help them reframe things that were stuck before. It's not a trick, it's a tool to open people up to actually listening to the new ways of thinking. The answer to a problem is never solved from the level it was caused. If you wanna learn a bit more about even using words differently, an amazing book I read is "Words That Change Minds" by Shellie Rose Charvet, and it's how to speak to people in a way they want to be spoken to so they actually take action.
@nobo16823 жыл бұрын
In a sense commercials, brands and any kind of propaganda, can be associated with "hypnotism", especially if you don't have any preconceived notions as guards against its subtle influence, guiding your mind to think in a certain way.
@nobo16823 жыл бұрын
You mentioned hypnotherapy, I can see how it can work along with how it can be abused intentionally and especially accidentally, after all "false memories" are a proven fact. We recreate our memories, every time we recall the past, our present experiences and emotions, alter it ever so slightly, that over time and with each rendition, until it becomes a memory chimera, utterly alien and yet so very familiar to you.
@DaveKatague3 жыл бұрын
@@nobo1682 we are on exactly the same wavelength, we alter our memories with each retrieval with all the new context of what we know now, our current state and timing.
