The instrument is a saxophone and the gentleman playing it is Dick Perry who also plays it on the song money on the same album and on the song "shine on You crazy diamond" in their wish you were here album.

It’s about war, racism, greed, and the unfair, unjust state of society.

My favorite Pink Floyd song. It's about conflict. Everyday we deal with the horrors of this world, war, racism, political conflict, etc. I just love to listen to this song and think about how Us is good and them is Evil. Hope you listen to more Floyd. Best band out there.

I realized how much a sax can sound like a clarinet.

If you really want to give yourself a treat start the album from the beginning, lights out, headphones on, laying on your bed , or sitting in your chair. And then just enjoy the whole thing. Dark side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall are all meant to be played from beginning to end without interruption. You'll absolutely love it. It will have a deeper meaning. Nothing is wasted with Pink Floyd. Every note, and every word has meaning. Long time Floy fan here. Enjoy!!

Pink Floyd is on a category all on their own. Nobody could compare to them. I saw them twice. I also have a lot of other albums originals now my daughter has them hanging on the wall.

Do yourself a favor, listen to the entire album in one sitting, sit in a comfortable chair, turn off the lights, and just listen.🙂

No one makes a better concept album than PF imo their albums are worth a full, uninterrupted listen.

Although a trumpet does sound much like a alto sax, ( especially depending on mouthpiece Style) this was a saxophone. Have been a fan of Pink Floyd since 68. Was fortunate enough to attend five of their concerts. AI has done a very nice video of this album. ( and others) Has the flavor of the old psychedelic videos. But..... it's AI giving its interpretation of the album. And somehow AI knows what a acid trip was like because it does similar visuals.lol Beware the whole screen is moving and has much pictures within pictures. There are times if you pause it you'll be astounded at just how much AI has put on the screen that only your subconscious mind will pick up. 🚜🤠🐂

Bro, it's a saxophone. Alto sax, I think. The guy who plays for them as a guest on this album plays both Alto and Baritone sax, I think. Been so long since I read the information, I'm not sure.
