When I 'm on TikTok talking about this, so many women in different age groups are going through the journey of deciding whether or not to make this choice. If you or anyone you know is doing the same, just know you're not alone!

Thank you for sharing your journey. I’m 2 weeks post op from a total laparoscopic hysterectomy. I’m in my late 30’s and I was suffering from painful and heavy periods due to fibroids, endometriosis, polyps, and adenomyosis. Also had PMS, severe bloating, and sore breasts. I'm 57. I've begged 5 GYNs to please give me a laparoscopic hysto. Begged. The periods got worse while I'm in menopause, to the point of being on tranexamic to stop the bleeding! Also on Veozah for hot flashes & night sweats. I look pregnant & feel dumpy in clothes. This is my 5th gyn. I got the go ahead for the procedure after the sonogram proved I need the surgery. Finally. Just don't touch my cervix, take out the fallopian tubes & my uterus. I'm hoping the gyn will listen when I say I'm ok with a local sedation and "beta blocker"/epidural. I will literally write "take out ovaries & uterus. Do NOT touch cervix" on my stomach!

Thank you truly for sharing this. I have 2 kids and we lost 2 pregnancies as well. I was also diagnosed with adenomyosis (similar to endometriosis but inside the uterus instead of outside it.) About 5-6 years ago. I am 36 now and I have had extreme periods and pain since I was about 14. I also have tried all the other options like the implant, and birth control, etc. I also was officially diagnosed with epilepsy last year and so I am terrified of getting pregnant again. I have been looking into getting my tubes removed, however I’m now considering having my uterus removed instead to end my horrendous periods and my constant pain. What you said about feeling free from the daily burden is great to hear because it’s been really hard to find any positive information on this topic as most people are posting their horror stories. I’m looking forward to a free life. ❤

If there is one thing I have come to appreciate, it is that the happiest people often have the least to say! It is no different than reading restaurant reviews, there will always be more angry people than there are happy ones because the happy ones are off being happy. I am so sorry about your diagnoses and what all you're still going through. It really is way more horrible to endure the kind of pain we've gone through than some of the trivial matters people discuss surrounding the subject of hysterectomy. I also find that most who complain did not do their research, had no testing done to prepare themselves for the potential consequences or simply neglected to take good care of themselves prior to removing such a powerful set of organs. I do hope you're able to accomplish your goal and live free day to day as I've come to.

Does having a hysterectomy affect your orgasms? Or is that affected? 🤷

At practitioner can only advise that there may be changes hormonally but that is completely dependent on your body's current state, what is removed and how likely you are to experience menopause soon thereafter. Mine are just fine, though.
