Located next to Hythe Station in Colchester, Essex on a bus/taxi/cycle only road. Amazingly, this crossing retains its NRS halogen wigwags in good working order to the day of recording. Along with those, it has four SPX barriers and two fairly quiet alarms, one of which produces a rather weird skipping tone (I stood under this alarm in the closure section of this video). Despite the rather dodgy surroundings, this is a great place for any train or bus spotter as the buses are quite frequent through this crossing. Trains pass through here to and from Walton-On-The-Naze and Clacton-On-Sea four times per hour (twice in each direction).
The lights have since been replaced with LEDs, and the alarms have also since been changed. Rather curiously, it was the only level crossing on the re-signalling project around Colchester, Clacton, and Frinton-on-Sea to have halogens installed when it was fully renewed in 2009, so these halogens only lasted ten years or thereabouts here.
Thanks for watching!
