I'm binge watching You Tube drone review videos to try and narrow down which one I want to buy for my two grandboys. So many videos have either too little info or take forever to get to the point and waste time on "fluff" and info not pertinent. Yours was informative, too the point and well thought out. Good honest review Dan! I love the looks of this thing , too bad it had a hard time getting off the ground. You stayed persistent too. Once you got it going, it seemed to be a pretty nice flyer and really quiet too! I hope the manufacturer/seller comes forward with some answers for you, at least to redeem themselves. Thanks Robby, it did fly good once it was cooperating. The manufacturer wasn’t very helpful they told me to charge the batteries and try all 3 which I clearly did in this video. They also asked that I not publish this video

Good and informative video! I purchased one of these from Amazon on 10/14/24 after watching your video. The price was only $ 19.99 for an advertised 1 battery package (some kind of sell off as only 10 were available) so I couldn't say no. I was leery about what I would actually receive for the discounted price (broken unit, empty box, etc.?). I received it 2 days later. Item was indeed brand new and not a return and included two (2) batteries. It was larger than I expected as well. I charged both batteries up (I used a 2.5 amp charger) and took it out last evening in the backyard to "test out" the batteries to be sure they weren't defective. They were not. I timed the flights and got 19 minutes from the batteries when the low battery beep started and possibly could have flown longer but didn't chance it. 19 minutes is not bad at all and that was my main goal for last night's flights, to test battery time. It was a bit breezy out when I flew it (8 MPH with higher gusts), and the winds did cause a bit of side to side movement as the drone maintained its holding position but maintain position it did. And as you remarked in your video, the motors and blades are truly quite quiet. The drone flew fine as I took it around the yard at low and high altitudes. All directions worked as expected. Return to home worked exactly as it should. I am quite pleased with the S166 GPS. And honestly, it was much more than I expected, and for the low price of $19.99, let me just say, I didn't expect much. I will add that I didn't use my phone or the app for those flights and solely used the controller, as I am not interested in FPV, pictures or videos at the quality I saw this camera produces on your video. I have a much better gimbal and EIS camera drone for those things. This will be something for the grandson to fly at the park to keep him busy while I am flying my own. I would say from all I have read and seen about this quadcopter (S166 GPS), it seems to be hit and miss with buyers. I also believe that the battery issue you experienced was due to defective batteries because the batteries I received worked beyond expectation. Now, as to your crashing into the tree, well, let's just say that was probably due to pilot error and no fault of the drone. 😁

I bought the same drone and figured out the issue with the batteries. They stop charging too early. I found that once they stop charging, you need to disconnect and reconnect them, they will then charge for at least another hour. So you were right, it is indeed an issue with the batteries.

I bought the three-battery version, and this is my 6th drone. The first one I lost (GoolRC T47 FPV Drone $30) and the second/third (ORKNELY Drone $80) I had success with until I crashed and burnt a motor. The fourth Customs sent it back. (DJI) The fifth (FPV Drones 248G RC Plane $100) worked great inside. Nice controls, but the phone didn't fit well. When I flow it outside, it went haywire on the first flight and crashed from 30 feet; it was done. This is my sixth, and I haven't gotten to fly it yet! My 7th is on its way and has a built-in screen.

This company sent me a brushless gps drone with 360 obstacle avoidance and I'm not expecting much especially after seeing how badly this brushed one from them flies. They are nagging me to get it reviewed but I'm in no rush plus the weather has been too windy to test the obstacle avoidance.

Yeah unfortunate that this drone didn’t perform. They suggested I try all 3 batteries and to make sure that I charged them before testing as if I didn’t already do that.

Here’s how to connect your phone 1. Power on drone and transmitter 2. Open phones wifi and connect to the drones wifi 3. Open the app That should get you to where you can see the video feed on your phone

Oh that sucks that it’s not allowing you to connect Not sure if this will help but try these steps once you’ve downloaded the app 1. Power on drone and connect to controller 2. Connect to drone wifi in your phones wifi 3. Open app and connect

@@valentino_govoni_official I have the $50 HYTOBP M*Max which is supposed to have a 1800 mAh, 1S battery. I've done some testing of the cells directly out of one of these battery packs and it's about 900 mAh at best in charge in from full discharge, but it's internal resistance is much higher than decent made for RC hobby RC aircraft lipoly cells made now, and in a discharge test was only able to get about 500 mAh out. Physically the cells in my drone look like RC hobby Lipoly cells from the early 2000's, and they always come out of the drone quite warm, which means they're not specifically designed for the amperage these drone require, just barely which could explain why the cells don't deliver decent flight times.
