Great review - really nice job!! My first MIni 3 went south after a hard landing and sooner or late I knew I'd lose it having many disconnects. With the recent Aliexpress 11.11 sale I purchased another one for less than I paid for the first one with 2 batteries and it is stellar. Tried many of your reviewed options here in the video so thanks for reviewing them as I generally just get up and go without doing any fancy stuff. I will add that the range of my 2022 V2 is way beyond any of my DJI drones and it is my "go to" drone.

If you are a hobbyist and want more competitive choices, at better prices, never buy a "you know what". Obstacle Over Hype is a Gimmick, as are these advertised ridiculous ranges. There should be a different rating for this instead of "range". As a hobbyist you would have to break FAA rules to use these features to their fullest. Visual line of sight means you have to be able to see the drone with your own eyes, all the time. Purposely turning your back to your drone while flying it means you can no longer see the drone with your own eyes, unless you are looking over your shoulder the entire time. Even a rear view mirror is not your own unaided vision just as using binoculars is not.

However, I always have it on when using tracking/follow me. PS. The marketplace is not stupid. You Know What is number one and dominates for a reason. They have the best combination of quality, performance, customer service and price. PPS. I bought a 3 battery Fimi Mini 3 package. Received it on June 2 with one battery. Still waiting on other two batteries. Also USB C cable was defective. Now waiting for replacement. This would not have happened with you Know What.

Nice review as always, I have learned a lot from you over the years. The Fimi Mini has a digital zoom slider next to the shutter button. It also has a convenient sport model button in the right bottom of the main screen. And then there's the tracking, in Lock mode you can also have the drone orbit the moving subject at different directions and speed. Very nice features to me. It all depends on where you wish to fly. DJI has many flight restrictions and if you are in one of those areas your drone won’t take off. The other thing is if you need tracking… check if the Mini 3 version you want to buy has it. If the Mini 3 is comparable in features and price then definitely get the version of the Mini 3 you are looking at.

The fimi mini 3 is definitely feature packed. Many more features than my DJI mini 2 and comparable to my DJI mini 3 pro. Some of the features work better than dji. eg. orbit. However my dji drones are better flying., more stable, better in windy conditions and fly further and for longer. I'm happy with my fimi mini 3. Good for the money. However if you can afford it always buy DJI. You'll have a better experience.

A great review! I like Fimi Minis -- but not their support. But what I really miss from Fimis is DJI's flight data in subtitles. So I can see any time the position and distances wathing the video. Hello. Do your enlarged 48 mpx photos also look like they were painted with watercolors? Does the process of taking a photo at 48 mpx also take longer than in the case of 8 mpx photos?

If you are not a photographer then you are like most people and think more megapixels means a better image which is not at all true. A 12 megapixel can look way better than a 48 megapixel depending on the sensor. When you see a watercolour effect it means that the camera is using software to make up for the lack of resolution. iPhones do this all the time and you can see it if you expand or zoom into a photo. On most drones with a basic sensor the 48 megapixel claim just means that each pixel on a 12 megapixel sensor is divided into 4 pixels. This is common on all mini drones or drones with small sensors and even cell phones. Software is needed to make the image look better so in some cases you see watercolours in detail when you look close at the image.

The drone should track you as long as other objects do not block your outline. Tracking can be from the side but as soon as you go too fast, it switches to the rear. For following a Bike, the best tracking and avoiding drones are the DJI MINI 3 PRO and DJI MINI 4 PRO.

I've had two of the full size Fimi drones, sold a first edition X8 to buy my X8 SE in 2020 which I actually flew today in 2024, so they are built to last. I'm keen to get an X8 Mini 3 next for the superior sensor. To me it's just a flying camera. Bang for buck they're the best drones on the market imo. You don't have to agree, but I wouldn't buy anything else. Oh and the fixed wing mode isn't like an FPV, it's meant to emulate the feel and view of a fixed wing model aircraft; it won't hover, it's always going forward and it banks into turns. Once you cancel that mode it goes right back into a stable hover. That and the tripod mode are my two most used features.

There seems to be quite a big difference with the footage quality between the Fimi mini 3s'. My unit gives somewhat blurry image towards the edges. I checked some youtube clips and seems some units give nice and sharp clips while some has the blurriness more or less.

FIMI drones are very similar to DJI Drones, but with more features. Except they have no obstacle avoidance and use a primitive method of tracking. The Potensic ATOM is another good buy. I always tell people that the only negative in buying a DJI Drone is if you live near an airport (within 5 miles) because then it may not let you fly. But if that is not the case, then certainly consider DJI as well.

You’d need the MINI 3 PRO or MINI 4 PRO if you wish to have a drone under 250 grams track you. No other drones on the market can track up and down hills and avoid objects, other than these two.

Usually, you get what you pay for. However, Fimi breaks this rule. I have mini v2, and what I have to admit... I like this drone. It offers more than one can expect for this price. Certainly, it shoots not so great as DJI mini 3 or 4 does, it hovers not so stable, and the controls are not so smooth. Yet, flying is interesting. Tons of features, solid body and a crazy speed😅

Which is better all depends on your needs and where you live. Fimi has more features and no Geo Flight Restrictions, and DJI has better international support if you need your drone repaired due to a bad crash.

That's crazy! I paid slightly more for a Holy Stone drone that did much less than this one a couple years ago. The fact that you can get a DJI equivalent mini drone for $250 says a lot about how far technology has come! That's great for those of us with less disposable income than others. I do own DJI mini, through DJI Mini 3 Pro, and I know the Fimi Mini 3 won't be quite the same level of precision but with that in mind, I think it's a great alternative if that's all you can afford! I would buy one in a heartbeat if I didn't own all the lower end, DJI Mini drones! I am curious about distance though. Off camera, have you "heard" an actual distance they reliably can fly up to? Great video and information about the Fimi Mini 3 Cap! Thanks for sharing!!

Distance and Flight Time mentioned by all Drone Companies is always unachievable to the average human. This is why less than 1% of DJI owners achieve the advertised flight time & range, unless flying out on the salt flats. So, as mentioned in the video, flight time is advertised as 32 min, but I was getting more like 25 min (If I force 32 min, the battery would be at zero). Range is advertised at 5.5 miles, so I’d say the average human would get 4.5 miles.
