Hyundai Bayon review - Better than the Ford Puma? | Road Test

The new Hyundai BAYON is yet another compact crossover SUV, but does the latest edition have what it takes to compete in a crowded segment currently dominated by the Ford Puma, Volkswagen T-Cross and Renault Captur? The lesson should be to never underestimate Hyundai who understand what consumers want and build cars to meet their needs.
So, what does the BAYON have to offer to help it stand out from the crowd? It is the very essence of a crossover, a muscular hatchback with a little more space and practicality, but its aiming to be premium as well albeit with a clean and minimalistic interior. While the design is not groundbreaking, the exterior features sharp lines and a number of features including a distinctive grille and kaleidoscope alloy wheels to make it stand out from its peers.
There are three trim levels to choose from - Advance, Premium and Ultimate - with even the entry level offering a great range of tech including ambient lighting, parking sensors and a 10.25-instrument cluster. One powertrain is available, both variations a 1.0-litre T-GDi turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine aided by a mild-hybrid system, offering 100hp or 120hp - and while this might not seem particularly quick, it’s more than enough for this practical family car.

The revised Bayon is not a mild hybrid. I'm pretty sure that Hyundai dropped this on the Bayon and i20. So if you want a simple mechanical car, especially to keep for the long term, this is the one!
