When I bought my first ev early 2023, and the Ioniq 5 not having a rear wiper was one of the reasons I didn't get one; I live in Canada, and due to the snow, rear wiper is mandatory for me. This car will definitely be on my upgrade list.

The new red paint looks cool, it needs be available on every trim level. I also wanted a dashcam recording system (a la Tesla) for this '25 refresh, kinda surprised Hyundai hasn't done this already. The cameras are already in place on the car, seems like it would be relatively easy to do.

Thanks a lot. Funny because the lack of light in the charging port could have been resolved by using pale color plastic (white or light grey) or two high contrast colors. Cheaper, more simple and not prone to break. And I agree with you. Accelerated sound and fake shifts are a waste of time and money.

Might be part of a larger update to work with Superchargers then, plug and charge would be nice if they could offer that. I wouldn't mind if they changed the instrument panel to use the normal round dial gauges like the newer model has as well. The sliding scale isn't much use, like how fast am I going ? About half. I'm not too worried about built in wireless phone connection though we have been using an adapter for over a year with no problems.
@volcalstone9 ай бұрын
@@SkaBob I'm sure the older system will be upgraded to the newer ccNC system. At least with the themes and system UI settings. We can't be 100% sure tho as they might make an excuse that it uses a different processor and stuff. They have no reason to really provide us prior owners with anything new cause they rather have us spend $10-$20K for a new car. Kinda sucks to buy the same car again just for the rear wipers. I'm sure glad the EV6 doesn't need one so there really won't be a for sure legit reason to upgrade to the refresh just yet. The main thing would be more range but that doesn't matter for all of us. Range is important to me but not enough to spend another $10K-$20K on it. Yeah I've been using a wireless adaptor just fine and I even got one of those Android box so I'm good when it comes to that. I just want some added software features that I'm sure could be done like the auto walk away lock. If it doesn't get added on by the end of this year I might have to pony up to get a 3rd market solution as I want that feature as I had it in the past with my prior car.

My new wish list for Hyundai/ Genesis / HMG: 1) add more custom settings vs default for the reversing camera /360 camera ( 1 press vs double press)... 2) And copy the VERY FANCY camera trickery that Toyota does that allows you to see the terrain under the car ("Panaromic View Monitor" - the front cameras come on when you slow down to a stop, starts painting the road surface under the car for EXACT PRECISE TIRE PLACEMENT). 3) use Genesis gv60 toggle buttons for cabin temperature adjustment - i am not a guy that falls for aesthetics but the hvac controls are beautiful in the Genesis, - the auto buttons AND RE-CIRCULATE BUTTONS are close together- Yay. 4) I disliked the fan up Fan down buttons getting separate discrete buttons as well, could be a toggle as well, - but other ppl will start complaining if things start looking asymmetrical. - So i don't have a solution for that. 5) if you're gonna do the 3 spoke wheel just bring the bottom rim of the steering wheel TOWARDS the driver hands ( eccentric shape ) Edit 6) add a second sport key (like Volvo did a while back - it's waterproof, no buttons) measures 5.5x2.5x0.8 cm - I can rely on it even if my phone / watch battery goes dead - flat enough to be in a tiny zipper compartment of my wallet.

Using that sound engineers settings from the Ioniq 5 subreddit, the volume is now fixed (my cruising volume is now level 25 not 50), the dynamics and spacing improved, and the bass is punchier and cleaner post-update. No complaints now!

Corbin, thanks for all your amazing work and info! It's incredibly helpful, and you've created such a good community of folks here. If the new hatch guides stop the noise in the back (which is horrible now in my car even after the TSB), and they fix the overheating charge port issue, then I'm in, and my '23 Limited will be going bye-bye! And if it's possible to dial down the 'N''s drive mode so that it gets similar or the same range as the non 'N' models, I'm more than happy to pay extra for the 641 horses. I would probably be considering a new Macan Electric Turbo, so this would be a huge value comparatively. Fingers crossed.
@jimingalls85569 ай бұрын
If I understand it correctly the hatch guide noise is what I describe as a "scrunching" sound which I heard in my '22 whenever I crossed a speed bump, etc. About a year ago I greased up the latch lock loop with Vaseline and haven't heard it since. Got that tip from an I5 forum and it worked for me.

One thing putting me off upgrading is the huge drop in value of my Ioniq 5 2022 SEL. I bought it as MSRP (I think 51K cash) and now we're at ~22K on blue-book (no issues at all with my car either). That's massive in two-years and puts me off upgrading for a while if the car is still going great.
@volcalstone9 ай бұрын
That's a big drop just for 2 years. That's crazy. To me if your car is working fine just keep it. You won't get anything back until a couple of more years. This is why leasing is best for EVs cause of the unknown market for them at this time. With leasing you're protected with a fixed residual value. When it time to turn it in you could either give it back or pay the rest of it. If the value of the car drops under that residual value then it's best to turn it in and buy it later or something similar.
@pewpewpower9 ай бұрын
And this is why you lease EVs
@FARFolomew9 ай бұрын
Sadly, this is why I never felt this car (or any car like it that's not specifically branded as 'Luxury') was worth the MSRP they were asking. That ~$22k valuation is more in line with a similarly equipped ICE car after two years, and that's where we need to get if the EV revolution is to take hold. For what it's worth, I'm in a similar boat with my Chevy Bolt. It's value has just plummeted completely. Not as much as yours, tho, that's for sure.

Also Corbin, I also posted the following also on the Out of Spec Podcast on the 2025 Ioniq 5 updates >>> The Ioniq 5 is a terrific car, had a 2023 Long Range Limited equivalent here in Canada model "our top trim model name is about sentence long", other than my biggest problem of no fast DC charging (mine was a one of with this issue which did get eventually repaired, with 6 service visits (2 different dealers) and 7 months later and then sold for Tesla Model Y long range AWD). The Ioniq 5 was a truly a great car I just did not luck out with the required DC charging from get go. Time to reconsider (especially with NACS charge port which will be native) as the drive and quiet cabin were class leading and with this improved range, rear wiper, better in-route routing (populated charging stops (you can select the DC charge level) with % range arrival and time to charge before moving on), and better headlights (mine were fair but not like this next level with potential active matrix adaptive high beams) and the biggest update is OTA (over the air updates likely the same as the EV9) will make this class leading desirable EV, thanks Hyundai!!! Can you bring more to Canada were are not really represented with Hyundai EV accessibility even in BC Canada where we are leading Canada in EV adoption but you just cannot get Hyundai's Ioniq 5 without very long order lead times! Only thing Hyundai please put the DC charger port in the back of the Drivers side to make it much more Tesla charger friendly!!!

Bonjour du Québec! Thanks a lot for these valuable informations. Helps a lot as we are considering changing our Kona EV 2021 for an Ioniq 5, primarely for better control over ice and snow. We must take in balance the Quebec EV subventions that will go from 7000$ca to 4000$ca starting January 1st. We must also consider the residual value of our Kona that will continue to depreciate... But a back window wiper would be useful in our canadian weather! At the present, Quebec dealers have a lot of 2024 to liquidate and they are ready to bargain quite a lot. They also offer a great rate on bank loans (as low as 0,99% for 4 years), The 2025 is said to be expected only next January or Febuary, and we don't know at what price. Any word of Apple Maps EV Routing being added or even considered?

Not likely as no other cars with the same system have it

@ 4:35 min - mention my biggest HVAC gripe - the current lack of a dedicated AC on off - looks like that's a thing in 2025!!?

It'll be interesting seeing what the Kia ev6 refresh looks like since it already had half of these ioniq5 improvements from the get go.

Any idea if the N Line is coming to the NA market? It just looks so sleek and sexy and I want one over the non N lines!

No promise That all these features come to the USA. They completely nerfed the features in the US version of the N. Lacks vision roof and HUD available in most other countries.

I realize I am probably in the minority, but I wish Hyundai/Kia would do away with push button "start" buttons on their EV. I much prefer the seat sensor that turns on the car ala Tesla/VW. Otherwise, great update! The N Line may be my favorite of the bunch simply due to the nicer wheels and streamlined fender/door trim.

What if I want the car and HVAC / seat heaters to stay on every time I briefly get in/out of the car ? Walking around to the trunk or adjust something in the back seat? What's the work around for that?
@Vamanos469 ай бұрын
Basically what's the manufacturer's justification on cars that do offer a dedicated button?
@jrwaters9439 ай бұрын
@@Vamanos46 there are easy ways to keep this on for passengers/pets (in my Polestar you press the main volume knob and in our Tesla I can enable pet/camp mode). If you're getting in and out briefly having your seat heaters turn off for a few seconds is not going to make a difference either way. Having a start/stop button is an unnecessary step in an EV. Once you get used to just getting in and going it feels completely natural and futuristic.
@Vamanos469 ай бұрын
@@jrwaters943how many clicks to get to that mode ? Maybe better to repurpose the start / stop button to allow to STAY ON with 1 press? Maybe better to give customer choice to change to YOUR PREFERENCE of turn off when seat not occupied.
@Vamanos469 ай бұрын
@@jrwaters943 if your best counter-argument is saying "it's not going to make a difference" then do you really understand all permutations of every users needs ?
