I recently changed the belt on my truck and was surprised how much of a squeak I had solely due to the gloss created by the idler and the fan contacting the back side of the belt. The ribbed side was in great shape.

The noises always comes from the flat side, sort of like a slippery squeaking and never use any of the belt dressing the stores sell, it just wets it alittle bit, noise goes away until the product is washed off or spun off, its only a bandaid for the real problem of a bad belt...

Crazy thing, I'm working on a 2016 Elantra and the other vids out there state you can release tension on the belt by some screw by the alternator. Mine doesn't have that, instead my 2016 Elantra has this tensioner as well. Thank you for the horn tip to move it to have more clearance.

So its normal then for the engine to make that much noise? Mine is a 2017 elantra limited. Does yours also idle a little rough sometimes after starting or sitting for a minute or like shudders almost when its idling in park? Mines been doing that hasnt thrown a code at all which was weird but i know the idler pulleys need changing and serpentine belt with it and ive got them waiting for my uncle to be able to help me put them on but now im unsure if thatll help or if something else is wrong. Too broke to go to even cheap mechanics so trying to fix it on my own if i can get away with that. Not sure if i should just outright get all the other pulleys changed too on the thing just so its done. Had to clean my alternator with electical cleaner seemed like that helped the idling that day but now its back to its old self, tailpipe is rattling a little more than usual and my father says he smells build up in it so not sure if its from buildup and i could just clean it out from the inside to clear it. Sorry for the long rant im trying to just tackle this stuff one step at a time but its my first car and im not that well knowledged on them. Any advice given or recommendations to try would be absolutely awesome. My mom says im being a hypochondriac over my car and that im obsessing over nothing but ive driven this thing for 5 years now i know how it used to drive and its just wrong and i can feel it. Id bring it to a dealership and tell them go over it completely and fix anything and everything if i could afford it cause i sentimentally value and love this car dearly it was a gift, if something happened to it id be very sad and i want to take the best care of it but i just simply cant afford that. So whatever work i can do on it myself i wanna do it and learn it. If yall think maybe im worrying over nothing then maybe i am but idk it just doesnt feel like it drives like it used to and feels off with all the idle shudders, hard idling on occasions, tailpipe rattling. Even sounds like it spudders from the front when i accelerate at low speeds when i first start driving it for the day. Idk anything that could be recommended please do i wanna try to do this one step at a time and eliminate everything that could be wrong that i can do unless its just down to i cant do anymore and need to take it to a mechanic

Could be a few things, you didn't mention a check engine light, just a rough running engine, do you change your enginevoil and filter on time, every 3k miles? 4 cylinder engines hate dirty oil. The noise you are talking about, you need to decifer if its a belt and pulley noise or an engine rattle noise from the internal valve train. It could also be the vvt solenoids like in this Hyundai kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6mYkKSprdmgodk

6:48 how do you get the spring loaded tensioner to release back to the tightened positions?
@alyoungcuda10 ай бұрын
The tensioner is under a spring loaded tension and by pushing on the wrench,, you loosened the tension so that you can slide the belt off one of the pullies. Once you go to install the belt back on, then you work that wrench again to loosen the tension, slide the belt on the last pulley and then slowly release the tension, once the tension is on the belt, the wrench can be removed.

Friend, do you recommend this vehicle?
@alyoungcuda6 ай бұрын
Do I recommend it, I would recommend a Toyota or Honda 1st..but this engine does have its problems and losing oil is a big one..you can Google Hyundai 4 cylinder engines and you will see alot of problems..but when they run good, they run good thats all I can say
