Hyundai Getz - How to Change Spark Plugs - Complete Guide

How to change spark plugs on a 2005-2011 Hyundai Getz, with 1.4L 4-cylinder (G4EE) or 1.6L 4-cylinder (G4ED) petrol engines. These engines are also found in 2003-2010 Hyundai Accent models.
We cover all the tools, parts and steps that should be followed for changing the four spark plugs, including how to set and check the electrode gap of the spark plugs.

Parts used:
Hyundai 18814 11051 spark plug x4 (Comes as NGK BKR5ES-11 spark plug)
Spark plug gap required = 1.0 - 1.1mm
Spark plug tightening torque = 21lb-ft (29Nm)

Tools used:
10mm socket
5/8” or 16mm spark plug type deep socket (typically with magnet or rubber insert)
Socket wrench to suit above sockets, with extension
Torque wrench to suit above sockets
Spark plug gapping tool - coin gauge, wire gauge or feeler gauge type (to suit 1.0-1.1mm gap)
Telescopic magnet pickup tool (optional)
Safety glasses and nitrile gloves are recommended

Hi Ahmed, if engine oil is getting onto the end of the spark plug it is likely the spark plug tube gasket for that particular cylinder is leaking, which can be replaced. We recommend checking out the website Partsouq.com, which has full exploded diagrams and part numbers for your car. You can put in your particular Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and search to see diagrams and spark plugs specific to your particular model. For our 2010 Getz with 1.4L G4EE engine, the part number for that oil seal is 22443-23001 (one per cylinder), and can be found on the Rocker Cover diagram.

Thanks for the excellent demonstration. I didn't know a purpose about the hole in the round SCA spark gap gauge. Twice I've had to replace the high tension leads also. If you ever do a re-make of this video, a minute or 2 about the HT leads, symptoms and replacement would be great. Thanks.
