New Hyundai i20 is offered with two petrols and one diesel engine
The new i20 is the most feature loaded offering in the segment and also the most expensive
The 2020 Hyundai i20 is coming with the promise of offering more. With 5 transmission options, 3 engines and 4 variants to choose from, the i20 is a car that’s heavy on choice. However, it is also the most expensive car in the segment with prices ranging between Rs 6.80 lakh and Rs 11.18 lakh (ex-showroom). The reason? Aside from the range of powertrains, it also gets a features package that cars in two segments above can’t brag of. Highlights include a 10.25 inch touchscreen, BOSE 7 speaker music system, LED projector headlights, projector fog lamps, auto AC with rear AC vents, connected car tech, a wireless phone charger, cooled glovebox, tilt and reach steering and more.

I have booked i20 sport petrol ⛽️ but I am confuse between baleno or i20 . When I have drive the new I20 Pick up wise I don't feel so good apart from that everything is good , Baleno pick up wise so good . I Need suggestions should I go for i20 or baleno

Hyundai's grand i10 scored only mere 2 stars and their big cousin Kia seltos got borderline 3 stars in GNCAP crash tests. But the same models are available with stable body structure in other markets. The korean cousins have no integrity towards indian customer's life like the other big player Maruti suzuki. They are here to squeeze the last bit of profit. Kudos to TATA and M&M, your service may be bad, features and blings may be less but you are valuing indian lives.

I agree to what you said. But having owned a TATA Nexon, I can say atleast for TATA that their cars lack the finishing or finesse in terms of interiors, engine optimization, clutch, etc. Parallely, Hyundai and Maruti are masters at that.

Even Swift Euro versions are much safer than Indian versions ,see the problem is the moment Suzuki and Hyundai make cars robust and heavy costs will go up and India people won’t buy Swift /i20 if it costs 14 lacs

After seeing the crash test rating of much expensive seltos I'm seriously concerned about the safety of the new i20...!!! yeah it's a well equipped car with tons of safety features but I don't think it's structure will hold a good impact 😓 , new nios is a great example of it.

True.....i really liked the seltos. The safety rating was quite disappointing. It wasnt beacuse of the 3 stars. It was because those 3 star star rating was for a 20 lac car.

I personally sat and test drived i20 and took a look at Altroz. I have to agree with the reviewer in almost all aspects about the i20 The 3rd gen i20 looks like Premium hatchback and a low end Sedan. To make it simple Verna Lite edition !!! When it came to Atlroz, Me and few more people took a look at it and we all loved the build quality of the car. Man that door thud was awesome. But i didn't like the most minut things like the door lock is integrated with the door unlock, which i felt was not comfortable choice with playful kids sitting at the rear seat. Also if you have someone in the family who generally feels claustrophobic then alrtoz might not be a good choice over i20. But the boot space is better than i20. Both cars where good in my opinion and both had it's plus and minus. Though everyone agrees on the build quality of Tata but most Indians feel Tata's resale needs improvement and the engine life is something only the future will tell

Which car should I prefer, 1- Kia Sonet GTX MT 1.5 Ltr Diesel or 2- i20 Asta Optional 1.2 ltr petrol. I have normal use and less travelling. I am looking for a family car. My family size is of 5 people and max 5'6 height. Please reply me immediately. I need a quick suggestion. I have booked sonet in November and want to cancel my booking and book i20 to save some 3-4 lakhs and get same features on the cost of sacrificing sonet looks.

Really thinking why ground clearance is going down day by day?? This has165mm vs 170mm the earlier model used to have..they know indian roads very well and think should concentrate on giving decent ground clearance though..

To some point i agree but not wholly...there are situation in tarmac roads when there are rough patches being protruding out to the extent that it can even screw up your engine oil chamber..so at that point i think ground clearance is really required to dodge those...might b u haven't faced till now..i am a poor victim of indian roads and always prefer a car to have decent ground clearance with big wheels...to my experience 180-190mm is very decent ground clearance and should be equipped in cars..after all everyone is paying their hard earned and shouldn't be a poor victim of this kind of road situation i believe...the roads in india can never be compared to those of Europe....so i believe there should be good provisions at least..

This should be compared with altroz and he is taking polo reference all the time. Idk they just edit and put music not informative at all. I doubt they had 1.2 engine.

***HAPPY DIWALI EVERYONE**** I want to buy a second hand car. I have 3 options=> First being Ford Freestyle 1.2 Petrol Titanium October 2019 Model; 14000 kms single handedly driven; I am getting in 6.3 lacs? Second is Ford Ecosport 1.5 Ambiente Petrol 2017 Model; 24000 kms single handedly driven ; I have being offered 6.5 lacs ?? Third is Maruti Suzuki XL6 2020 Petrol Top Model; just 360kms driven; selling because of financial issues; Selling Amount 11.25 lacs ??? PLEASE SUGGEST.....Its going to be my FIRST CAR. Which option should I choose????

@Tushar Kamath Pls compare Polo Manual TSI with I20 - True enthusiasts dont care for shit features like sunroof and connected car tech.Polo will eat the i20 for breakfast.( as it has been doing frm a performance point of view since 2010.) Also pls compare Altroz vs I20 diesel manual.Here too , the Altroz wins hand down because of safety, ride, dynamics and value. The pricing of the new i20 diesel is absurd.

@ZigWheels I have seen innumerous videos of i20 india... Why hasn't anyone talked about the wheel design which is not even closely sexy as the international versions ... I mean .every one talked about all the jazz ... But not even a single one talked about why the hell we don't get the alloys offered in international versions???? If the govt can fix and even out the existing idiotic taxation system based on engine capacity, I think we can actually some hot hatches with 1.3 or 1.4 engines that may fall in the same price bracket as today. Why the hell is the govt charging 50% tax on cars with engines above 1.2L? Dear Zigwheels, you guys need to do something here - In my opinion, no one should have to pay more than 10% tax on the car, especially when we are paying over 50% tax on petrol, toll tax on roads, road tax which has a tax on tax, GST on every consumable, Income Tax, Professional Tax. I am requesting you guys to launch a campaign with your partner network to highlight this.

Nicely summed up. With respect to hot-hatch creds, I think I20 and altroz are at the extreme ends - One has the powertrain, the other has the dynamics. I think it's the K1 platform that leads the I20 down. Given the prices of the new I20, a full comparison with Rapid TSI would be great (Preferably automatic variants).

Thumba chennagi present madiddiri. Well, its Kamat again with very versatile style of presentation...And Shenoy joined too. A comparison with its value with Honda City and its features with Venue and Polo is very informative. Though I am not much impressed with new I 20, the presentation was great as Kamath made lot’s of work beforehand. Realistically where this model of Hyundai stands...neither it’s a hatchback nor a sedan or SUV. The company thought bought so many new features in to it, the definition of ‘Hatchback’ remains unchanged. That’s where this model is unconventional.

just see the new i20 in showroom. I have baleno alpha model. when I sit in the drivers seat , I realised it is very narrow . and feel shorter space than my baleno. At rear also it is not specious. steering wheel is also small in size. and really not feeling a pricy hatchback car. Baleno is far ahead in terms of space interior and cabin space. Also as all said this i20 is very expensive too....I think it is a big flop for hyundai.

Hickup is not that i20 is an expensive car. it is an expensive hatchback, which does not have the same emotional benefit/edge that a sedan or compact SUV enjoys. It will surely change when someone can think differently about what a hatchback can be and what you need from it. These lines from him totally sums up the video👍

Let me Tell you one thing, You Guys are good Automotive Journalists,but it doesn't justify that you are reviewing for criticizing. Really hate the negative feedback in most of your sentences. Do remember one thing before you Review that, No car is Perfect in all means. Admit the Positives and effort behind every car. It never mean hide the Cons.

If something is meant to be criticized then it shud..only then will the companies may heed to customer needs This car in particular is really overpriced, not exactly quick and basically even luks r bad compared to elite i20..

@@originalstud1 if there is something to criticize on i20,it is the pricing.Still the price is justified with segment first features and Variety of engine and transmission options. Besides this,Looks are really subjective. I personally feel this is the best looking hatchback in India. Finally,how can you conceive a review with negative feedback in all the sentences ? It's utter boring !

@@rahulmannil7641 yes luks are subjective but what about driving dynamics...neither solid like tata nor punchy like polo n punto..lifeless steering and brakes without bite..which are trademark of hyundai So basically just good features in such an overpriced car.. Oh yes and first in segment does not matter here as the price transcends segments and body types..in dat kind of money u can buy a venue or sonet..or even a lower end creta

Lifeless steering/brakes? Is that why Hyundai become the second largest Car manufacture in India ?? Is that why Hyundai sells Thousands of Cars in each and every segment? I hope in the next reply you would not Mention Hyundai Cars have no Brakes,steering and wheels😆 !! There are Hundreds of Automotive Journalists in India . Watch their I20 Review as well . It's not like how Thushar Kamath's Complain Review. I Hate his review just Because He blames A Car in each and Every Sentences. Just Listen to his previous Car Reviews and you will find out. When Someone consider His Reviews to Buy a Car,they will Never own a car in their lifetime as he report Mostly negatives. Even after all these if you Like his reviews,then I have the Same to tell you my friend . Why these MS & Hyundai KIA are showing discrimination against Indian market. Kia Seltos Australian trim got 4 stars but Indian variant 3 stars adult & 2stars child safety ... 🤬 All these days thought Hyundai i10 & i20 are better quality than Swift & other MS cars. Now they proved me wrong 👊 NIOS got 2 stars 😠 . Do you think Indians are more interested in Features and Interior gimmicks than Safety .. NO Indians are changing man.... Atleast wakeup now and bring more safer cars or else TATA & M&M wll lead the markets in future for sure
