Nice to see the 28 get some love. I love mine. Even in the cold. Not that it gets THAT cold in the western part of Norway. While some might argue that "It's not a beast, it's not cool" etc but as a car with staying power. I certainly hope to hold on to mine for some time to come.

Excellent bud and stunning scenery, with beautiful music. Hyundai really knew what to make and how to make it then. Pity they’ve gone down the overly heavy, overly expensive, 0-100km racer but not efficient cars. They’ve lost their EV way. But you forget about Felix but no cuppa? Probably did off camera.

This 28kWh Ioniq still surprises me how fast it charges.. The 38kWh is far slower and complains a lot with "cold" weather... I knew this from your videos, but never thought it would "cold gate" here in Portugal in autumn...but it does. I've only fast charged it 3 times since I have it but in all 3 it never gave 44kWh speed from the start. The last one I was down to 10% and it still charged at 31kWh for a bit before jumping to 42kWh..it was cold, around 14/15ºC..not negative 😁 Still really like the car, its very efficient. Even though it has a smaller battery that the Zoe I had previously, I get more range and less consumption (128Wh/km average in Zoe vs 118Wh/km in Ioniq). Just wished it had 3 phase AC charging (56% of all charging spots here are 22kW AC...) and a bit faster DC, but not a deal breaker.
@amiddled
@amiddled Жыл бұрын
You might be too focused on out-right charge speed. Don't forget that if you charge from home, the 38kwh starts out with quite a big advantage with more range. You have to stop more than once to make up the difference with the 28. For more journeys it just isn't an issue.
@mchipelo
@mchipelo Жыл бұрын
@@amiddled I totally agree, that's why I bought the 38kWh vs the 28kWh, but on the really long journeys (very rare cases) it would be great if the charging speed was the same as the 28kWh (at least the 50kWh we have in most DC chargers).

With the Ioniq 38 kWh you should have more than 20°C in the battery to get the „higher curve” 25°C is perfect. You can't get that temperature on the first charging Stop in winter. The first charging Stop will always be the slower curve, in winter, but the second will be fine. Don't forget on longer trips, in the cold Winter, to hammer the Facelift Ioniq on Autobahn. You should not drive slower than 120km/h on speedo. And then you always have the „higher 42kW curve” in average. But I do not know how it will perform in -30°C 😅 My example applies to typical German winters around 0°C. 😊

The reason why the ground is hotter where you have driven over is because you can see some tarmac. The tarmac is dark coloured and it absorbs more sunlight as a result and warms up more. So that’s why it’s warmer then the undisturbed snow. Snow is white and reflects more sunlight, so it’s colder. Some Norwegians use soil to melt snow because soil is black and it warms up in the sunlight and it’s warm enough to melt snow.

Since the cabin air exhausts through the battery, maybe it will warm up and charge faster if you heat the whole car instead of just using Driver Only mode. At that point the heating is coming from shore power anyway, so using more doesn't really matter.

For a super bright LED bulb try a corn bulb, named that way because the LEDs are arranged on the outside like kernels on an ear of corn.

I experienced turtle mode when evening when driving back home - just a couple of kilometers before home. That is really scary and the reduced horsepower is a bit dangerous and the car gets sluggish even compared to normal ICE cars. Driving up our little slope from the street towards our carport was so slow I thought it would just stop a couple of meters away from our homecharger.

The battery heater is only used in AC charging mode. I tried this out myself and read it out via Torque Pro. The heater then consumes around 600W. 🤷🏼

Very impressive at -30c, we love our 28.... It always surprises me more EVs arent built like this.... Instead of these sub 5sec 300+ hp monsters ... efficiency over power and we might get the 400+ mile range we all need. Bjorn keep doing the vids and pushing the 28 to the limit. What obd device and app do you use? Id love to see what our 28 is doing.....
