I bought my Ionic a month ago. I was an early EV adopter in 2014 with a 24kw Leaf. In 2015 we drove to Holland and back. What an adventure but that’s another story. The Leaf had to go because we moved to an apartment with no charging facilities. So we now live in a house and have had a Wallbox fitted. The Ionic seemed to fit the bill but I have to say that without this excellent video i could not have learnt so much so quickly. Thank you for the information that you provided in a clear and friendly way.

If you can set the Auxiliary Battery Saver then you don’t have the latest battery management software and need that updated at dealership. After that the 12v battery management is automated and charges as and when needed instead of before every 4hrs, which can cause depletion of the 12v battery.
@Nikoo0337 ай бұрын
Regarding what Matt says at 24:45 about EV charging, for those who don’t know the Ioniq 38kWh hasn’t got a great charging curve, meaning that it does not maintain a high level of charging power for a long time. So for this particular EV, if you want your charging session to last a maximum of 30 minutes, you will want to only charge from 11% to 70% maximum. This will give you 100 miles of motorway driving (4.5 miles/kWh). And don’t worry, 11% is about 19 miles of motorway driving at 4.5 miles/kWh, so you’re fine. 😊

One of the very best cars out there that you can get. Unbeatable in energetic efficiency and price / performance ratio, very nice and smooth to drive. Sad that Hyundai ceased production of that car. Only downside is very slow CCS charging, which is a pity, because it could be changed obviously very easy by software change, especially in Winter the cells are always on the cold side, and yet charging is slooooooooooow.

@GoGreenAutos4 ай бұрын
You have a star button which is a shortcut button which you can program to do what you want. But from memory, you can't put drive modes on it. Not sure why you would need too as there's already a switch near the gear buttons for that and typically that's only one push either way to change the mode.

I charged my car at work . When I took the cable off I got in the car and there was a message saying cannot charge at full capacity. Something on them lines . What is this ? I think it’s saying it’s charged to the max capacity I set which was 90%. Do you get this message.
@GoGreenAutosАй бұрын
When AC charging, charge to 100% as this then does the cell balancing. This 80-90% lark can cause worse pack health over time. The 80% rule should only really apply to when DC charging. More for efficiency of your time, rather than pack health. But yes, the message is probably just prompted you that the charge was interrupted. I can't remembering seeing it myself, but probably never been in that situation.

I not an expert but I'll run through it as best I can. The left side of the instrument display shows the regen mode. When in manual mode this shows as Lv 1, Lv2, or Lv3. Left paddle increases the regen and right paddle decreases the regen. I usually drive in this mode, It feels a little bit like changing down in an ice car. Pull and hold the left paddle for max regen to a complete stop if required Auto, Pull and hold the right paddle for 3 seconds. Display changes to AUTO. On the open road there will be no regen level. Say, on a motorway, and you start to approach the traffic in front. The closer you get the more regen it applies. It's very adaptive. if the car in front is going only slightly faster or slower than you it will adapt the auto.regen braking. @@AndyKennedy
