Picking up my new 2020 Ioniq HEV this weeknd! Awesome video - bookmarked! Also it's a bit ridiculous the amount of backseat "professionals" in these comments! The guy clearly works for a certified repair centre!

Just bought a 2022 plug in hybrid one and love it but i feel there could be flaws in the futures i was wondering if you know any tricks or tips to watch out on daily basis or on monthly basis to make sure never had hybrid before

Just treat it the same as any other vehicle. Stick to the maintenance schedule or even a little sooner than recommended. Depending on your style of driving and lengths of distance

great video ! is it normal that on my ioniq when I check the oil dipstick it is caramel colored and it smells of gasoline? and the level is slightly above the maximum

YOU PUT THE WRONG TYPE OF COOLANT IN YOUR IONIQ SUPPOSE TO BE "GREEN" ASIAN COOLANT THE PINK COOLANT IS FOR TOYOTA
@owensautotips8 күн бұрын
You’re telling someone who works at dealer and parts supplied by dealer is wrong? Old coolant is green. They have now stopped using green and moved to red.. but thanks for the input 👍

Isn't it the case that with a hybrid you first disconnect the high-voltage battery? The note about this should come at the beginning!
@owensautotips5 ай бұрын
You do not disconnect the high voltage battery for a service!
@-Snakekiller-5 ай бұрын
@@owensautotips I don't really know much about it. I'm not a mechanic either. It's just that Hyundai's operating instructions always say that you should disconnect the high-voltage battery before doing anything. But I understand that this may be a bit excessive for work on the car that has nothing to do with electronics.

@-Snakekiller- I’m a Hyundai tech buddy, only time you disconnect the HV battery is when doing any HV related repairs.. Some hybrids do have a service interlock which can be disconnected but as long as the ignition is off and key is out the vehicle you will be fine

When you change the brake fluid on these, are you also changing the clutch fluid?
@owensautotips6 ай бұрын
Brake fluid is the clutch fluid buddy but yes I do
@carlsgarage20236 ай бұрын
@@owensautotips they are held in separate reservoirs aren't they? Both dot 4? How often would you recommend the clutch fluid be changed on these?
@owensautotips6 ай бұрын
@carlsgarage2023 older Hyundais have separate bottles. New Hyundais are one reservoir. Brake fluid is every 2 years or 20k miles on Hyundai. If separate reservoirs then I’d say clutch fluid when it looks dirty or fails using a hydroscopic tester
@AlinBiohazzard17 күн бұрын
@@owensautotips Man, clutch actuator fluid are separated from brake system....check again the diagram or think like this, what you will do if your clutch system fail and have a leak? brakes will fail to and you cant stop the car? Clutch hydraulic system is separated from brake system, yes they use same DOT 3&4 (actually Hyundai recommand DOT3 for clutch system), but remember this..they are separated from each other but require same DOT3/4 fluid.

I literally work for dealer and can tell you pay models clutch and brake fluid is in the same reservoir. Older models can have separate and some new gearbox designs have a separate one on the gear box. Literally 90% of cars on the road share the brake/clutch reservoirs. Don’t talk wet
