I have this 39kWh 2022 version for about 5 months now. It is really more than enough for my daily drive to work, which is 50 miles away from home. Every night I charge the car, and fully charged the next morning. I rarely use charging stations, except for longer trip. Your review is great, very objective and so clearly explanations. Keep up the good job.

Hi, if you don't mind me asking what's the approx cost of an overnight charge at home? We get our Kona around November so just trying to get a rough idea many thanks 👍

@@antrats73 in Indonesia where I live, the cost for an overnight charging at home, from 10% to 100% battery capacity is roughly US$4.5 and it allows me to drive for 350 km (217 miles)

If you have a home charger you can precondition the cabin of the mains with no loss of range!

An excellent and comprehensive review delivered in a very easy to listen way. One of the best car reviewers on KZbin by some way. A very enjoyable presentation.

10:35 Charging and kW specs - important information. How is the Hyundai Kona Electric in the snow? Does winter mode on Hyundai Kona warm the battery while charging?

Tolles Auto .

How many miles did you drive on full charge?

Had to chuckle when you said the it was cold at -2C. In my part of the world (Manitoba, Canada) it can get down to -40C in midwinter. I’d like to know how the Kona EV performs in our winter conditions.

Yeah, we know that in Canada it isn’t considered nippy unless the temperature drops below -250˚C and the wind speed is at least 340 km/h.

Seems a great city day car, the lower charging is not great but for the money a great car.

Strictly not entry level if you have the heated seats. The SE Comfort 39kWh is the entry level but still packed with really useful stuff. Precondition the car whilst plugged in and your range won’t be affected. Good review thanks!

Only thing is if your only charging to 80% to keep the battery in good condition, you're not going to get 180 miles in the summer or winter! Avoid the 39klw and go for the 64klw battery! My 64klw charging to 80% i get 250miles in summer and 215miles in winter and my battery will out last the car!

Cold weather test OK. But in reality you never really done a true range test. Do a range test over a long trip. I'm in a peugeot 2008 electric. It claims 214 miles on a charge. Im currently getting 155 upto 165. With the heating on about 22 degrees. So nowhere near the claimed range. I wish I'd gone with a diesel engine car. The cost of charging is up there with petrol and diesel prices when you take into account the pence per mile. Ionity are crazy stupid prices 70p pkwh that 17.5p per mile if you can reach 4 miles pkwh if i had not been made to change my car I'd be in a diesel it was costing about 12 or 13p per mile. And a full tank would give me around 390 miles of range. In all honesty electric cars are OK for school run shopping and getting to work somewhere local. But for companies that have you doing long distance travelling electric cars are terrible at this moment in time.

Hi there, sorry to hear you’re not having such a good EV experience. The 39kWh Kona Electric did have us worried too, but it proved to be very accurate with its range prediction, so we could always plan where to charge. We managed to charge for a much more respectable £19 - and a home charger would have been much, much cheaper
