Awesome diagnosis and repair. I had a similar problem on some Cadillac junk a few months ago and after doubting myself I decided that the testing results were out of spec and after I believed and replaced the throttle body the problem was cured.

I am glad I am not the only one that got confused by that throttle pedal position sensor. Had a friend that had one of these and had to try and figure all that out and I know much less about it than you. His Hyundai was same year and most of same codes as you got. Thanks for the video.

+The Disgruntled Mechanic yea. In hindsight, I think it was the snap - on scan tools description of the codes more than Mitchells . .. did a throttle body fix yours as well?
@TheDisgruntledMechanic8 жыл бұрын
my Autel described it the same way. The throttle body was replaced before I ever looked at it. What the guy who replaced it did was actually peel back/cut the wires to do his checks rather than back probing. We fixed the wiring that was cut and that helped but did not fix it. As soon as I saw the taped wires to the TPS I went directly to those. There is some other Danner guy on youtube that says to never trust where you know other people were and you see tape.The owner got the shits of it traded it in.

Great video as usual. Love the shop comedy that goes along with it. Great family you have btw. Just picked up a lightly used Solus Ultra and still messing with the functions. Now I know what the lock icon does! Each car I spend a bit more time with to see what the tool is capable of

thanks again for an awesome video and for taking the mystery out of electronic throttle body scan tool data! and the problem with the trans could be the torque converter is being partially applied...if the trans cooler is plugged up it will apply....again thank you for the great video!!!

sorry it took so long to respond....i have seen this in hyundai..always seemed to need to go to the tranny shop....also there is a video from motoYam82 that is titled hyundai unintended acceleration...that video will show you why the dealer would not do the tbi without fixing the transmission....again thanks for the video!

Cute kids. Did you perform a reset procedure after installing the used TB? It needs to find home again - same thing when throttle bodies are cleaned: "Without starting the engine, turn the ignition ON (Turn the ignition key to ON position or press the Start-Stop Button two times without depressing the brake pedal) for at least 10 seconds and then turn OFF for at least 10 seconds. This procedure allows the ECM to automatically learn the throttle valve position. The following Throttle Position Learning Enable Conditions must exist for learning to take place: Battery voltage > 10V - Engine coolant temperature > 41.5F (5.3C)" Generally best starting point is stack APP & TBS % PIDs and test drive, as you were doing later on, and look for something that doesn't belong. Good vid's JD - like the concise editing. :-)
@jamesdanner78508 жыл бұрын
+M Barry thanks. I did not do that relearn. I kinda disconnected the battery overnight for that tranny issue to no avail. But the throttle seemed to work right
@Mikesky107 жыл бұрын
James Danner actually hyundai does not need any relearn procedure for the throtle body; great video!!!!

Good job James. So did you and Nick find anything else out about the Transmission?
@jamesdanner78508 жыл бұрын
+busjockey1 no. The searching I did some had valve body issues. Kinda fits. It would be OK at initial stop then progressively get worse the longer I set at a stop. Maybe a valve seeping ? If u Google it ,a lot of those lame forums with no answers had a lot of the same complaints
@trainer20188 жыл бұрын
Get any scan data of the Trans for your Input Turbine Speed and output speed? Do you have a Pressure Transducer for your Vantage so you could check the Main Pressure? Just some thoughts. Kind of curious what the issue is.

+Joshua Larson I'll check Monday when I'm back at work. But I think those have an accelerator pedal position sensor near or under the master cylinder
@camelotboxers17 жыл бұрын
thanks james any input would be great ,i appreciate you taking the time to look into it for me ,i cleared the code ,it started to act up again, the check engine light came back on ,kinda acts like thrre a rev limiter, as soon as you step on the brake it would stall out ,check the engine code still the same a p2127 ,i checked the throttle plates they were dirty cleaned them by having a friend turn the key on and floor the pedle so the plates would open so i could clean ,i did see the switch near the master cylinder you mentioned has about 9 wires coming out of it ,checked the throttle plate actuator controler on the side of the throttle plate housing, connection seem ok ,i did notice when i was going to clean the plates the plates seem like they were sticking when my friend was flooring the pedle, didnt seem as bad when i cleaned the plate, i cleared the code ,the light came right back on but ran better /normal other than the light was back on it seem to run ok ,didnt no if it would be worth it to go to a savage yard and remove the throttle plates houseing assembly, and the throttle switch under the master and cross my fingers, Thanks again for your help !
@jamesdanner78507 жыл бұрын
+Joshua Larson the code is for r the accelerator pedal sensor . Not the throttle position. If u have graphing meter u can check signal and powers.grounds. but if not. Get the part under the master cylinder from the salvage yard if it's cheap. Let me know if u want to test anything, I can look thru the diagram.
@camelotboxers17 жыл бұрын
Many thanks james ,iam going to try to find one today at my local salvage yard ,ill keep you posted and let you no how i make out ,have a good one thanks a million! !

When you replace components Hyundai or kia on the GDI motor there is an a/t value reset. when you had the battery disconnected that should have done it.
@Turbotomass8 жыл бұрын
despite your throttle signal voltages being in spec. Your saying the throttle body is bad because the angle data pid isn't changing or reaching close to 100% despite manually moving it 100%? I thought the voltage was the raw data non substituted value. And the angle was a calculated number. Angle data false because of the error or substituted?????
@jamesdanner78508 жыл бұрын
+Turbotomass I didn't move to 100% while watching. It was the difference in the throttle angle percentages. Which would be calculated from the live voltages. And since the used one worked correctly just plugging it in, the raw data had to be off.. if I had more time I could have screen shotted the graphed signal from the first tbody to the second one during the commanded test and checked for the difference in peaks. I think it's all in the vid. Just didn't go that far. I'll have to watch it again and see if it's all there
@rhkips8 жыл бұрын
Did the trans issue show up after the throttle body was replaced, or was it there before?
@jamesdanner78508 жыл бұрын
+rhkips it was there before. I didn't drive it much because of the forced idle issue but nick felt it pulling hard when trying to park it . And the dealer said it needed a transmission and a throttle body at a cost of 2700 before it came back to me
@rhkips8 жыл бұрын
James Danner Alright, that rules out a throttle relearn issue then. Bugger. Knowing Hyundai's dealership procedures for such things, my recommendation would be to send it to a transmission specialist. My gut reaction is that the transmission itself is physically fine (for now), and that there's a control issue, but without being able to prod at it myself, I really can't speculate beyond that. :[

@MCHNCTCH8 жыл бұрын
Couldn't you have disconnected the battery, reset KAM, and then rechecked TPS %. Just a thought.
@jamesdanner78508 жыл бұрын
+M3CH4N1CT3CH I started wondering that half way through but with it leaving and potential warranty, I didn't try it. Then with a cheap used one available, we just ordered it when we knew it was coming back. The fact that it just plugged in and worked without any resets makes me think that it isn't an adaptive type system. Just fixed parameters. But I still should have tried it to eliminate the possibility. Great question. Sorry I can't answer it with 100% confidence. Thanks
