How to install rear shocks on a Hyundai

I had a new spacer in the box for the rear shocks for a 2014 Sonata, and didn't know where it went. Your video showed that. Thank you very much!

You didn't need to use vise grips on the shaft. There is a flat at the top end. Put the nut on and then use a flexible ratcheting spanned while holding the flat. Easier and won't damage the polished shaft.

Yes I did, I didn't have a socket or racket with a hole in the center of it and it was rusted pretty good so I did the next best thing and it worked. You have to clamp it at the top because the top will never compress that far down into the shock.

Thanks! You don't need loctite because the nuts are very tight. But it's up to you.

Do shocks not need to have the air bleed from them any more?

I have never bleed air from the shocks because oil will come out. I have only adjusted the air in air shocks.

@@LonnieJohnson1 Back in the day we would pump the shocks 8 to 10 times to full extension with the shock standing upright. The first 2 or 3 pumps you would get a squelchy noise then the shock would firm up and be silent.I havent seen it done in any videos but we were taught it 30 years ago

I worked at a shock assembly plant and now days they have a machine that pumps each shock in order to make sure the shocks work and to make sure they pass QC before packing them for shipment.
